Text version

Q: What do you consider a specialized vehicle, and if these vehicles are to be provided by the contractor, do we provide an hourly price?

A: It is envisioned that the contractor will provide their own vehicles in performance of this work which would require contractor pricing. The work here is estimated as follows (at voltages from 120 VAC up to 69,000 VAC);

90% : ground-level to 45' off the ground 8% : 45' to 70' above ground 2% : underground conductor

The bulk of service orders/work orders are completed utilizing a standard utility truck or insulated aerial truck ("small bucket service truck"). The greater heights may require larger insulated aerial truck. Underground work often may require hand tools and general excavation equipment.

In the context of the work statement, the term "specialized vehicles" may refer to equipment such as the following; over 45' reach insulated aerial truck, derrick auger/digger, backhoe, lighted tower trailer, wire spool trailer, trencher, backhoe, equipment trailer, and dump trailer. CRA-ES's transmission line (69kV) is primarily located in the desert where very soft sand can impede ingress; this may require specialized equipment.

Under exceptional circumstances, CRA-ES can provide a derrick digger, 70' insulated aerial bucket truck, backhoe, dump truck, and lighted tower trailer. However, the contractor should be utilizing their vehicles.
