MAIN STREET CRYSTAL SPRINGS (MSCS)

CALL FOR ARTISTS

OLD BIGG HARDSWARE BUILDING

MSCS is pleased to announce a Call for Artists to design and execute an exterior mural on the Old Biggs Hardware Building in Crystal Springs, MS. This call is open to those with professional experience in public art or painting.

The mural will be an integral piece in our Downtown Business District as we embrace the rich history of Crystal Springs. The mural will not only be a statement for the Downtown Business District but a narrative for Crystal Springs.

The two goals of the mural are to integrate both:

1. A sense of destination announcing that you have arrived in Downtown Crystal Springs through text, logo/imagery and

2. Utilizing the artist’s discretion, celebrate the pride of Crystal Springs, our community, schools and history of Crystal Springs.

Blending the two goals together into one cohesive mural is strongly encouraged.

SPECIFICATIONS

The painted mural shall be on the exterior wall where the previous graphics were. The existing exterior walls will be painted by MSCS once artwork and muralist have been approved and selected.

The Old Biggs Hardware Building is located at 101 South Jackson Street.

Executed work must be true to the submitted concept design and a final walkthrough of the project any necessary edits must be completed prior to final payment.

ELIGIBILITY AND STIPEND

Artists are asked to provide a budget for the project with their submission. The total proposed budget should consider costs for materials, supplies, travel, accommodations, and the painting and sealing of the mural, all costs which will be borne by the artist.
