Statement of Work TITLE: NCNR Crane Maintenance, Repair and Inspection Requesting Lab: National Institute of Standards & Technology Neturon Research Center

(NCNR)

Introduction OSHA regulations require cranes to be inspected monthly and/or annually. Manufactures require maintenance to be performed at certain service intervals. As parts become damaged or wear out, items must be replaced or repaired. This may also include upgrades and changes to the equipment to help the cranes function better with the changing conditions of the facility.

The purpose of this contract is to 1) provide monthly and annual inspections on all cranes,

2) visually inspect lifting hardware and slings, including portable lifting devices and chain hoist, to ensure all lifting equipment is safe to operate, and 3) address repairs, break downs, emergency service, upgrades, and support for all cranes at the NCNR, to keep the cranes operating safely and efficiently.

Background The NCNR utilizes a variety of cranes. Existing crane types include bridge, jib and gantry cranes of various size and design. To provide a safe working environment for the employees, operators and guest researchers, this equipment must be maintained and operate safely. NIST requires the frequent (monthly) and periodic (annual) inspections of all the existing cranes at the NCNR. The NCNR operates 24/7 and could potentially require emergency repair services or support at the facility in addition to regular maintenance and repair services.

Objective(s)

1. Provide monthly and annual inspections for all NCNR cranes (see crane Table 1).

a. Inspect portable lifting equipment, hoists, slings, and hardware biannually

2. Provide crane assessment, repair/upgrade services and maintenance services as required or scheduled by the COR.

3. Provide emergency support, assessments and repair services as required.
