Amendment 002
The purpose of this amendment is to respond to a question posed by a potential offeror.
Question: The requirements show: “"All structural steel members must be cleaned by removing all loose mill scale, loose rust, loose paint, and other loose detrimental foreign matter.” What exactly does this mean? Does the Government require these items blasted (sand or shot)? That is the only way to make these items perfectly clean and completely free of ANY matter.
The normal condition of any steel beam is bare with varying degrees of warehouse dust/slight rust which is usually acceptable to those who buy beams.
Cleaning cannot be done by hand. The only way is blasting if total cleaning is really needed.
Answer: Blasting is not required. The SOW does not state that the steel has to be “perfectly clean.”
The due date for quotations and all other terms and conditions remain unchanged.
