Questions and Answers

1. Can you send some pics or confirm the serial number of the current collar (Starts w/

ERX and is located on the aft port or starboard tailcone seam)?

Answer: We were never able to find the serial number for the tubes. We had 6 different people look for them. (Please find attached photos of the vessel and existing rib tube.)

2. Does NOAA have a shop where the work could be completed?

Answer: If it is summer when the installation takes place, it could be pulled into the shop there. After it snows (often beginning in October), it would not be possible to use the shop due to pulling the vessel in and out of Jakalof Bay. We can use kar-a-van in the winter or maybe rent a shop.

3. Would a truck or forklift be available during the installation process?

Answer: Trucks are available, although it is unlikely a forklift/bobcat will be available.

4. Could we cut off (Destroy) the old tube in the process of the refit (this will save a lot of time during the removal/installation process)?

Answer: The Government would prefer not to destroy the old tube until it is certain and we are sure the new ones will fit.
