About this file

This is a Statement of Work for the purchase and renewal of Viavi TM500 testing licenses required by the National Telecommunications and Information Administration's Institute for Telecommunication Sciences (NTIA.ITS).

NTIA.ITS conducts research and engineering projects examining the feasibility of deploying Open Radio Access Network (RAN) systems with radio subsystems from multiple vendors. The TM500 is a load tester that uses software to simulate test cases for 5G base stations in Open RAN environments within the CRAIN 5G Laboratory. The objective is to procure six specific TM500 licenses required for continued operation and testing functionality. The required licenses are: TK5028 (5G NR TDD PDCP UL 256 QAM 2x2), TK5056 (5G NR UL SRS), TK5230 (5G NR UE Specific CSI-RS and CSI-IM Configuration), TK5068 (5G NR 32 Scheduling Entities per Slot in DL), TK5106 (5G NR 128 UE UL per Slot), and TK3012 (TeraVM RDA HTTP ABR Streaming). These licenses support functionality for Nokia and JMA vendor equipment testing as well as video test cases. Licenses must be delivered to NTIA.ITS located at 325 Broadway, Boulder, Colorado 80305, Building 1, Room 2226.

STATEMENT OF WORK

Viavi RAN Testing Licenses

U.S. Department of Commerce National Telecommunications and Information Administration

Institute for Telecommunication Sciences

1. BACKGROUND

The Institute for Telecommunication Sciences (ITS) will conduct research and engineering projects that examine the feasibility of deploying Open Radio Access Network (RAN) systems consisting of radio subsystems from multiple vendors. This test equipment will be used to test Open RAN systems deployed in the CRAIN laboratory. The CRAIN 5G Laboratory currently uses a Viavi testing solution, TM500, as testing for 5G base stations in ORAN. The TM500 is a load tester that uses software to simulate test cases. The software requires specific licenses to run specific scenarios, and these licenses are required to operate with specific vendors and test cases.

2. OBJECTIVE

NTIA.ITS requires the purchase and renewal of specific TM500 licenses to continue operating the TM500 for ORAN research. These licenses are required for functionality of test cases on JMA and Nokia equipment as well as licenses required for video test cases.

3. REQUIREMENTS

NTIA.ITS requires the following licenses:

License License Name Description Test Case Requirements

TK5028 swl_5g_nr_tdd_pdcp_ul_256qam_2x2_lic_ e 1.0

5G NR TDD PDCP UL 256

QAM 2x2 100MHz b/w, For UEs, a DCI grant is received in which a 256 QAM MCS is configured and the checkout of license corresponding to the 256QAM grant

Required for Nokia test cases

TK5056 swl_5g_nr_ul_srs_lic_e 1.0 5G NR UL SRS, SRS is an uplink reference signal transmitted by the UE to help gNB estimate uplink channel quality in link adaptation cases

Required for Nokia Test cases

TK5230

swl_5g_nr_ue_specific_csi_rs_im_cfg_lic_ 1.0

5G NR UE Specific CSI-RS and CSI-IM Configuration, CSI configuration is sent by gNB is applied if this license is in place

Required for all Nokia & JMA Test Cases

TK5068 swl_5g_nr_32_se_slot_lic_e 1.0 5G NR 32 Scheduling Entities per Slot in DL, “32 Scheduling Entities per Slot in DL” it refers to the 32 number of independently scheduled downlink transmissions the gNB can assign in a single slot.

Required for chapter 8.2,8.3

TK5106 swl_5g_nr_200_ue_ul_slot_lic_e 1.0 5G NR 128 UE UL per Slot, gNB schedule up to 128 uplink transmissions in a single slot.

Required for chapter 8.2
