Statement of Work

The Contractor shall provide plowing, snow removal, sanding, and bush-hogging services for the National Weather Radar Site in East Berne, New York.

Scope of Work:

Snow Removal The Contractor is responsible for clearing the access road to the radar site (approximately 1,100 feet long) and the parking lot (approximately 2,000 square feet) and snow-blowing sidewalks, access gate path, and garage doors at the radar site as follows:

1. For any snowfall accumulation of 4 inches or more, the Contractor shall plow and perform snow blowing within three clock hours after the snow has ended.

2. In the event of an extremely heavy snowfall or high winds causing drifting snow, the Contractor shall plow and snow blow to keep the facility accessible, and perform a final cleanup of the site after the snow has ended.

3. If two or more back-to-back snowfalls produce a total accumulation of 4 inches or more, the Contractor shall plow the access road to the radar site and the parking lot and snow blow sidewalks and access gate path and garage doors.

4. No plowing or snow blowing is required for snow events less than 4 inches.

5. Contractor may use NWS owned snowblower stored at radar site, provided it is available and in serviceable condition. Otherwise, the Contractor will use their own snowblower equipment.

Sanding Occasional sand application is required for specific areas during winter months when ice reduces vehicle and pedestrian traction.

1. The Contractor is responsible for applying sand to the steep slope leading up to the radar site parking lot from the main radar access road.

2. The Contractor shall sand the radar site sidewalk surfaces.

3. The Contractor shall provide all materials. A mixture of sand and salt may be used on the roadway slope. Sand only shall be used on the concrete sidewalks.

4. The above sanding shall occur only when icy conditions prevent vehicle and pedestrian traction on the parking lot roadway entry slope and/or radar site sidewalks.

Bush-Hogging and Weed Clearing Additionally, the Contractor is responsible for bush-hogging and weed clearing of the entire radar site and shoulders of access road once annually as follows:

1. Bush-hogging and weed clearing shall be performed at least once annually in late July or early August as weather permits.

2. The Contractor will use their own bush-hog equipment to clear brush and weeds from the access road shoulders and radar site perimeter fence exterior areas.

3. The Contractor will use their own "weed-eater" equipment to remove weeds from inside of the radar site perimeter fence area.

Location - The work shall be performed at the National Weather Service Radar Site at 618 Woodstock Road, East Berne, New York 12059.
