Will the contractor be responsible to move/relocate any items located along both sides of and adjacent to the wall other than the granite top? (i.e. appliances, tv screen, empty tanks, etc.)
08/20/25
With the exception of the granite table top, NOAA will move items that are not attached away from the immediate vicinity of the wall. If the contractor determines that the wall-mounted TV screen needs to be removed during construction, they are authorized to remove the TV. It should be replaced upon completion of construction.

2 08/11/25 Does the fire alarm flasher (figure 1) need to be relocated/reinstalled in another area or just disconnected and removed?
08/20/25 Proper functioning of the fire alarm system must be maintained per the requirements of NFPA 72. See response to #3.
08/20/25 08/21/25
3 08/15/25
Please confirm who NOAA’s designated fire alarm maintenance provider is for Building 130. Any modifications to the system will need to be coordinated and priced through that provider to ensure system integrity and approval by the AHJ.
08/20/25 The fire alarm system integrator was Johnson Controls Inc. 08/20/25 08/21/25
4 08/15/25
The scope of work calls for removal of a wall between Rooms 2108A and 2108B. An existing fire alarm indicator is located on an adjacent wall. Once the subject wall is demolished, the remaining indicator will be visible from all areas within the new combined space. Per NFPA 72, relocation of notification appliances is not explicitly required unless coverage in the occupied area is compromised, with final determination left to the
Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ). Could NOAA please confirm with the AHJ/fire inspector whether the existing indicator will suffice, or if relocation will be required?

5 08/15/25 Is there a staging area for trucks and equipment at the site?
08/20/25
There is a limited amount of space to stage vehicles and equipment in the vicinity.
08/20/25 08/21/25
6 08/15/25 Is the wall accessible for equipment (small forklift or hand forklift, etc.)
08/20/25
The contractor should be cognizant of any overhead clearance required to bring equipment through doorways and into the room.
08/20/25 08/21/25
7 08/15/25 Can you provide pictures of the access areas? 08/20/25
See attached <RFI-Figure1.jpg> showing the area immediately outside the Rooms. Note vertical clearance of 8 FT. The double doors into the room have vertical clearance of 7 FT and horizontal clearance of about 5 FT 6 INCHES.

After the demolition of the wall, that section will need to paint. (Approx 10" x 10') There is a slight possibility that the paint will not match exactly. Would this be okay or would you like us to paint the entire wall corner to corner?
08/20/25 A close color match is sufficient. No need to repaint wall corner to corner.
