About this file

This document is a set of questions and answers related to solicitation 1305M224Q0129 for trash and recycling pickup services for the Department of Commerce National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

The key details are:

  • The requirement is for one 8-yard dumpster at two separate locations, HML and Buildings 500/600. A single 15-yard dumpster would not meet the weekly requirements. The 15-yard dumpster is requested only twice per year for significant trash removal.
  • The 20-yard dumpster requested up to 3 times per year is for general waste and bulk items such as wood, lab trash, glass, metals, plastics, and industrial air filters. It may also include some municipal solid waste like food waste, but this is not the primary purpose.
  • The incumbent contractor is Republic Services of South Carolina LLC.

Q&A for 1305M224Q0129

1. I was reaching out to see we could use One 15 yard dumpster for the two 8 Yard dumpsters.

a. Unfortunately, these dumpsters are at two separate locations. One is for HML at the back loading dock, and the other is for Buildings 500 and 600. We need one 8-yard dumpster at each location. One 15-yard dumpster will be positioned too far apart to meet the weekly requirements. We only request the 15-yard as an as-needed request twice yearly for when we need to do a significant trash overhaul.

2. Regarding the Delivery/Haul 20-Yard Container Upon Request, up to 3 tons, could you kindly provide clarification on the type of waste that will be disposed of in this container? This information is necessary for us to accurately provide a quote on tonnage.

a. General waste/bulk items (wood, standard trash items, glass, metallics, plastics, filters from industrial air handling units, etc.)

3. What type of waste will be placed in the 20-yard container that may be needed 2x per year? Is it for general waste/bulk items or will there be municipal solid waste (food waste) in there as well?

a. Yes, municipal solid waste, mainly general waste/bulk items (wood, standard laboratory trash items, glass, metallics, plastics, filters from industrial air handling units, etc.) Possibly food waste items, but not the intended purpose and it would not be in bulk.

4. Is there an incumbent for this contract?

a. Yes. The incumbent is Republic Services of South Carolina LLC
