About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file for Solicitation Number 1301263741, providing detailed specifications for a floor-standing high-speed centrifuge. The Q&A clarifies key technical requirements, including the instrument's application for separating synthesized materials from solvent, temperature control range of -20°C to +37°C, and HEPA filter requirements. Specific technical details include processing up to 16x 50mL samples simultaneously, operating at speeds up to 14,000 RPM (35,000 times gravity), and compatibility with 15mL and 50mL conical and 30mL round bottom tubes. The document instructs potential vendors to submit quotes and capability statements directly to shamai.m.carter.civ@health.mil, with the understanding that the organization already has fixed angle rotors and does not require additional lids or canisters.

• Do you require temperature control?:

A: Yes; minimum range of -20o to +37oC

• Do you require biocontainment (Aerosol Canisters, Lids, HEPA Filters)?:

A: Yes to HEPA filters; this is to match previous equipment specs; lids and canisters not necessary as we have rotors with lids/canisters in house

• At what volumes are you looking to run (Conical, Round Bottom, Flat, etc.)?:

A: 15mL and 50mL conical and 30mL round bottom

• At what speed (RPM and G-Force) do you need?:

A: Usually run at up to 14,000 RPM (35,000 times gravity) when using rotor JA-14.50; greater than 100,000 times gravity matches previous equipment specs

• How many samples would you like to process per run?:

A: Usually up to 16x 50mL samples at once.

• Rotor Type (Swinging Bucket, fixed, etc.) needed?:

A: N/A; we have all necessary rotors in house, and they are fixed angle rotors; usually rotor JA-
