Electrical Work (Generator hookup, office interior lights, outside motion lights)
1. When is the payment bond due?
Payment Bond- due 10 days after the contract is awarded.
2. Will the gas line (meter) need to be upgraded, because it looks like as it is now it won’t meet code and be able to handle the pressure needed to start generator?
The current gas line (meter) located at the southeast corner of the shop/warehouse building barely meets code, when inspected by New York State Electric and Gas (NYSEG) in 2020, it was ok. However, it may need to be upgraded due to expansion when being used to power the backup generator. We will follow up and have the gas meter upgraded if required.
3. What size is the conduit going into the electric panel because it only looks like a 2” line?
They are only 2” and therefore a trench will have to be dug from the shop to the electric panel which is about 190’
4. Is there insulation in the office attic?
Yes.
5. Will the new office lights (reception area and conference room) be tied into the existing switches?
Yes.
6. Will the outside lights be dusk to dawn?
No, the outside lights will be motion activated LED security lights to illuminate the driveway and parking areas around the building at the PMC, for security purposes.
Contractor to pick which lights to use. i.e. solar powered, hard wired.
7. In the seed barn, is there a designated place to walk in the attic to install lights on the west and east ends (where eaves meet)?
There is access to an ‘attic’ but there is no set place to walk as the attic consists of insulation, rafters, trusses, and purlins.
8. Can the RFI be moved from 6/30 to 7/5?
Yes, it will be changed.
9. Can the existing 400A Disconnect be removed and a SE Rated ATS be installed in its place to assist with re‐working the existing electrical conduits and wire way. Existing 400A Disconnect is roughly 50” x 28” and the proposed ATS will be 48.4” x 39.2”
No, the existing 400A disconnect will remain in place. There is sufficient room to install the ATS on the panel. The wireway will be reworked as needed to install the ATS.
10. Lead Times: Contract documents state a Deliverables 50 Days after Notice to Proceed. Current lead times on hardware are running 10‐14 Weeks based on ARO and Type of Equipment.
We understand the lead time issues that are occurring and the performance time will be adjusted to accommodate the increased lead times once they are identified, following award of the contract.
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
1. Generator will require 2 conduits from the ATS. (1 Control Pipe and 1 Power Pipe)
2. Control wires to be Qty 2, #12 or #14 THHN
3. The generator will require a minimum of one 120v 20A circuit from a separate source to power the battery charger and block heater. This can be obtained by the use of breaker mounted in the ATS (EC to provide) or Circuits pulled in from the shop power panel. 2 dedicated circuits are preferred, one for each device.
