Questions for Laureen:
1. What is the “Electric Scope” for this project?
The existing power supply is 3 phase 240v. This project will not involve upgrading the available power supply to a higher voltage supply, the new pump installed must be compatible with the existing power supply.
Evergy has stated that “soft start equipment” may be required because this installation is at the end of their line. The required electrical components for this job are an unfused disconnect before the electrical meter, a fused disconnect after the meter, control panel for the new pump. If the existing service panel will not meet the requirements for the pump to be installed a new service panel will also be required. The existing service panel is as below (taken from the label inside the service panel)
Pnl Type: PRL1A Volts: 208Y120V Neut Cat: 1C96649G02 Date: 8/18/2011 Box Cat : LWPQ2048 Job No : SKC0259697 Pnl Amps: 225 Phase 3 Wires 4 Neut Amps 225 Nuet Volts 120 Box Type 3R Mfdg. At DNS
Horizontal breakers to be 100A Max.
Terminals are suitable for CU or AL, use 75 degree C conductors
2. Can you provide drawings & details for Electric Scope?
See the answer above and attached pictures. No further information is available.
3. Where are the Electric Controls to be located?
The Electric Controls are to be located at the existing meter/service panel/control panel if possible. If re-use of existing meter/service panel/control panel location is not possible then the Electronic Controls shall be located as dictated by the new well location.
4. Is the existing electrical for “Well 2” to be abandoned/removed?
If no components of the existing electrical service for “well 2” can be re-used in the installation of the new well/pump system then they shall be abandoned but not removed.
5. Is “Well 1” controls to be abandoned/replaced?
“Well 1” electric controls are not to be abandoned or replaced as part of this project.
6. How will Well 1 & new Well 2 be Controlled? Separate Switch? Together?
Well 1 and Well 2 will be controlled using separate controls. The only work item in this job concerning Well 1 is to connect the pipe coming from Well 1 to the new pipeline (new pipeline to be served by Well 2).
The intent of connecting Well 1 to the new pipeline is a contingency plan in the event that Well 2 does not produce adequate water supply ( 300 gpm).
7. Will Well 1 Pressure tank be removed?
Well 1 pressure tank will not be removed. It is the goal of this project to not have to use well 1 in normal operation of the resulting irrigation well/pipeline system.
8. Can you provide detail for pressure tank & check valve for Well 2?
A pressure tank will not be required at well 2 (this is a departure from the existing system AND initial requirements as stated). Well 2 is to serve solely as the irrigation water supply to the traveling gun sprinkler that was shown at the site showing. It is the understanding of the PMC staff that a pressure tank is not required to operate this equipment. The check valve mentioned in the original requirements follows along with the pressure tank, it is not necessary for the operation of the traveling gun sprinkler and should not have been included in the requirements. IF a check valve is required by the state Kansas well regulations/law then it shall be installed. No fertigation or chemigation or provision for such will used at well 2.
9. Well 1 & 2 are a pressure system, how will Well 3 be hooked in? Please provide detailed drawing!
Well 3 will not be hooked into the pipeline, it is a stand-alone flood irrigation system completely separate from well 1 and well 2. The only work at well 3 included in the requirement is to replace the existing diesel engine with a new engine and cooling system and connect the new engine to the existing pump.
