a) This project has a performance bond; no bid bond.
3) Can brush be hauled off site?
a) Tree and Brush grub material can be removed from site for disposal. The removal will be at expense of contractor Removed trees may not be resold. Otherwise the cleared material will have to compile clearing and grubbing specification.
4) What is the current state of the haul road?
a) Haul road will require grubbing/clearing. Trees and brush will require removal along haul road to allow equipment to access swale and ditch plug site. Additionally, there will be a alternative haul road allowed. An attached map will be provided on solicitation. Although all routes will require clearing and grubbing.
5) What is required grubbing depth at pond site?
a) Per project Bid Schedule, Construction Specification 2 – Clearing and Grubbing, paragraph 7, 3., a., “The grub material… shall be grubbed to a minimum depth of 6”.”
b) The grubbed vegetative material will be placed in habitat mound

a) Timing of ditch plug construction is determined by contractor; not specified in plans. It will be the contractor’s responsibility to anticipate weather events and ensure moisture and compaction requirements will be met per specifications
7) Is there a type of fill from the pond site that is not wanted for plug construction?
a) Per project Bid Schedule, Construction Specification 21 – Excavation, paragraph 10, 2., b., “The plug material shall be free of sod, roots, frozen soil, stones over 4” and other vegetative material.” No restriction for soil type is specified for plug construction.
8) Where can a brush pile be located near existing wetland pool area on east side of haul road, inside of tree line entrance?
a) Brush pile not to be located within wetland area. Contractor can establish brush pile within tree line.
9) Can additional fill from pool excavation be placed on haul road if road conditions deteriorate?
a) Fill for haul road construction can be used but must get prior approval from engineering ahead of placement. Any fill from above current condition will be required to be removed at end of construction at contractor’s expense. It is not required to add fill material, and an alternative haul road map will be provided
10) Is the proposed haul road the “best/shortest” option to access the swale and plug site?
a) Based on current conditions, the proposed haul road is the “best/shortest” option to access the swale and plug site. If conditions change during construction, an alternate haul road map will be provided and approved by engineer. See attached map for details.
11) What are the limitations (physical) of the haul road construction?
a) Contractor will clear and grub the haul road to meet job requirements. Haul road width can be twice the width of construction equipment and shall be leveled prior to completion of project. Responsibility of contractor to keep the haul road graded so government inspector can access site for inspection activities.
12) During clearing and grubbing operations, what items are not acceptable for fill material?
a) Per, Construction Specification 21 – Excavation, paragraph 10, 2., b., “The plug material shall be free of sod, roots, frozen soil, stones over 4” and other vegetative material.
13) What is the flow direction of the river in relation to site?
a) Flooding of the site varies, we encourage contractor to monitor local river hydrographs. The estimated river stage that floods the site is a 13’-14’ river
14) What is the layout for the ditch plug?
a) Profile for ditch plug confirmed on sheet six of ten of project site plans.

Root wads removed from plug site will be hauled to habitat mound. If root wad filled with dirt and larger in size than specified brush piles. The root wad can be sawed of the tree trunk and trunk can go in brush pile and root wad in the habitat mound.
17) If trees and brush are grinded on site by contractor, what can they do with the remaining debris?
a) Debris from grinding of trees and brush on site can be left on site but cannot be incorporated into plug fill material and cannot be so think on seeding areas the prevents new seed growth.
