Question & Answers

Below are questions received in black type and the Government’s response is in blue type.

Q: Do these appraisals need to be a before and after appraisal for conservation easements?

A: No. NRCS needs the current market value of the property so we can determine the compensation amount. NRCS uses the current market value to calculate what will be offered.

Q: Do the appraisals need to comply with the Uniform Appraisal Standards for Federal Land Acquisitions?

A: No. NRCS only requires a market value appraisal that complies with the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practices.
