About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) document for a Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) ACEP-WRE Tree Planting solicitation in Alexander County, Illinois, with solicitation number 12FPC125Q0061. The Q&A addresses three key questions: (1) whether alternative native tree species can be considered if sufficient qualifying trees cannot be procured, (2) the percentage of water-inundated sites and equipment needs, and (3) a request for ground-level site photos.
The document includes three ground-level photographs depicting what appears to be a recently cleared or prepared land area with exposed soil, sparse vegetation, and some naturally regenerating areas. The answers indicate that tree species substitutions require prior NRCS approval, no shallow water areas were excavated, and a regular tractor should be sufficient for site work. The objective, as stated, is to establish as many acres of trees as physically possible. The images suggest a landscape in various stages of preparation for tree planting, with cleared ground, track marks from heavy equipment, and some existing vegetation.

Question # Answer
1 Substitutions if needed will need prior approval from NRCS.
No shallow water areas were excavated on the site, so very little is inundated on a regular basis. A regular tractor should be sufficient
See below - there are areas that have started to naturally regenerate. The objective would be to establish as many acres to trees as physically possible.
