1) Through SCCI research that the CHROMATED COPPER ARSENATE (CCA) that the lumber for the stairways is banned in the united states and Canda. That being said we are looking for a answer on another material to use on the timber stairways for the treatment in the lumber. Please advise.

a) Alternatives to CCA include acid copper chromate (ACC), alkaline copper quat (ACQ), copper azole (CBA-A and CA-B), copper citrate (CC), copper dimethyldithio-carbamate (CDDC), and copper HDO (CX-A).

2) Sheet d-06 notes say “see 5/d-11 for additional information” however are set of plans stops at d-07, please clarify.

a) Disregard note, additional information refers to the sign installation detail provided in

Sheet D-06.

3) Line item 16 calls out to remove 40 trees. But in the bid documents, it states the contracting officer can call out other dead trees or snags. SCCI is wanting to know how many extra trees will need to be removed?

a) 40 trees are estimated to be removed. Removal of extra trees is unknown.

4) In the bid documents it says there is a disposal area. SCCI is wondering how far is the disposal site?

a) Disposal site is within the vicinity of the project area and accessible by dirt road above the camp, near the existing water tank.

5) If we have extra rocks or boulders, can we off haul them to the disposal area as well?

a) The disposal site is relatively small and could fill up quickly if there is an excessive amount of rock and boulders. Alternative would be to relocate the extra to Martin Meadow campground with approval from the COR.

6) Our tree contractor would like to confirm that the trees to be fallen as well as the stumps to be removed – can these stumps be grinded or must they be removed?

a) The stumps within the proposed campground parking spurs must be removed. Other stumps may be grinded upon COR approval.

7) Where is the water source to fill the water truck?

a) The nearest potential water source is Silver Lake and accessed from the boat ramp about half a mile away from the work site. Approval is required prior to use.

8) On sheets D-01 and D-02 the typical campground spur refers to “specified surfacing” “compacted select material”, what material is this?

a) The “specified surfacing” in Sheet D-01 refers to the campsite parking spur and material is asphalt. The “compacted select material” in D-02 refers to the camp unit living area.

9) Can awardee have access to our CAD files so their engineers do not have to start over fresh?

a) CAD files will be made available to awardee.

10) SCCI would like to know (for bidding purposes) where the borrow site is located to the project site?

a) The Tragedy Springs quarry is a potential borrow site and it is located approximately 4 miles southwest of the Silver Lake Campground. Availability and quantity of material is unknown.

11) Will our employees be able to stay in their trailers (2) for the project?

a) This is subject to written approval by the District Ranger. It is possible for employees to stay in their trailers within the campground that is not being used during construction.

There are also some dispersed sites nearby.

12) If so, will there be any charges associated with these overnight stays?

RFI – Silver Lake Campground Reconstrucon

a) There is no charge for the above-mentioned options. There will be charges if employees stay in the campground part that is open to the public.

13) There are approx.. 25 to 30 trees down on the ground in the campsites, are we to off haul them or will there be an area to place them for forest service removal?

a) The trees already on the ground could be hauled off with the trees slated to be dropped.
