About this file
This document contains an RFI log and details for the Black Bill Fence Project solicitation. The RFI log provides responses to questions from contractors regarding a storm damage project at the Bass Lake Recreation Sites. The responses clarify that no sanitation facilities will be available on site, recommend using NRCS designs for breakaway fences, and specify that trees should be cut if they could fall on the new fence but do not need to be piled or removed from the site. The related solicitation is for fence reconstruction work and is issued by the US Forest Service under solicitation number 12970223Q0095. Contractors are advised to visit the site to assess conditions and plan their proposals.

| 1 | Please advise, , whether there will be sanitary facilities available nearby at a public campground or similar, or whether we will have to drag a toilet trailer around or whether we can do a cathole Boy Scout style away from waterways. | There is not sanitation facilities on site, you would be camping or your folks could stay in a hotel. Any sanitary facilities your company has onsite would need to be removed from the site. | ||
| 2 | I was wondering whether you can recommend an alternative to Bar None metal braces for breakaway and H braces (or a diagram with specs on metal thickness and sizes for in-house fabrication since we have a metal shop) in case they are not available. | I have attached a document from the NRCS that shows flood gates and water gaps, that is what I am thinking for the breakaway fences. Bar None is a small company, but that is what we use for braces, you can also email them and keep calling. | ||
| 3 | Please advise whether there is a gate/lock or whether there is free public access and when is an optimal time/date to visit. | There is no gate/lock to see the site. The best access is to take Campbell Ave. then you can get on to FS road 6064D. It is good to visit from now until the roads close due to winter weather conditions which is around Nov. | ||
| 4 | I was wondering about the tree felling requirement in the "2. Statement of Work" document. Do you want all dead trees within 75' of the fence cut or just the ones that are close enough to fall on the fence? | |||
| Are we to keep the lumber or should we put it into a burn pile or deliver to a Forest Service warehouse? Please advise on what to do with the trees. Please clarify the 8' right of way meaning. | For tree felling: cut any tree that would fall on the fence, this could be outside of the typical 8’ row for the fence, that is why that is mentioned. No need to pile, you can leave them where they are. |
