About this file

This document provides wildlife species lists and habitat information for the San Bernardino National Forest. It includes four tables detailing watchlist animal species, Forest Service Region 5 sensitive wildlife species, threatened and endangered species, and non-native animal species found on the forest. A variety of habitats are covered, including riparian, grassland, woodland, mixed conifer forest, desert, and aquatic environments. Numerous animal species are identified, including birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, fish and invertebrates. Location data is provided to indicate species presence on different districts of the forest. This information would be useful for environmental review and project planning to understand sensitive species and habitat areas that may need consideration.

The related federal contract opportunity is a solicitation from the Forest Service seeking contractors to conduct California Spotted Owl surveys in suitable habitat areas on the San Bernardino National Forest to determine presence/absence and reproductive status. The purpose is to collect data on this Forest Service sensitive species. The contracting agency is the USDA Forest Service Pacific Southwest Region.
