What are the exact dimensions of the well construction zone shown in drawing W-4? Where is the new well to be placed within this space? Is this space completely free of trees? And is there any possibility of trees being removed if the well construction zone is not of adequate size? (W-4 ) DRAWINGS AFFECTED: W-4, W-5

COFFMAN RESPONSE:

A new detail is provided with additional dimensions for the well drilling site. It is attached as “Well Site

Plan Detail” and will be added to Sheet W-5 in the conformed drawing set after bidding.

See attached Addendum 1, Exhibit 1 (A1E1).

Specs call for mild steel blank casing and stainless steel wire wrap screen. The specs also specify that collars are to be of the same material as the casing. What about at joints where blank meets screen? There is no mention of dielectric couplers. Are we to weld the dissimilar metaerials together regardless of potential corrosion? (2.1A).

DRAWINGS AFFECTED: W-6

Replace specification section 33 21 00 paragraph 2.3.C.1 with the following:

1. For field assembly by welding, well casing and screen section ends shall have collars of the same thickness and physical properties as the corresponding casing or screen section. Collars connecting well casing to well screen sections shall be assembled with a slip ring assembly as illustrated on Plan Sheet W-5. Collars shall be a minimum of five (5) inches wide for blank well casing and joining well casing and well screen, and four (4) inches wide for well screen.

A new detail is provided illustrating the cross section of the casing wall/well screen wall interface and collar assembly.

Specs say earthen pits are acceptable, but also calls for shale shakers. Shale shakers are used for above ground tanks, not earthen pits. Which method is to be used? (2.2C) DRAWINGS AFFECTED: None.

Specification Section 33 21 00 paragraph 2.2.B states, “The Contractor shall provide an earthen pit or mud tanks with a minimum capacity equal to the maximum borehole volume, and a configuration that effectively settles out drill cuttings before fluids are recirculated.”
