About this file

This is a trailer specifications document for the Helena-Lewis & Clark National Forest Helena Aviation Center, establishing the technical requirements for a dual axle bumper pull trailer to support Helitack and Helibase operations. The trailer must be a commercially available model with manufacturer-provided options and add-ons, measuring 20-22 feet in length (excluding tongue) with a minimum interior height of 7 feet and standard width of 8-8.5 feet to meet DOT regulations. The trailer must feature a flat top with V-nose design, a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating between 12,000 and 14,001 pounds, and wheels no smaller than 16 inches. The interior must include two rooms divided by a finished, insulated wall, with the office area positioned 6-8 feet from the rear and centered on the passenger side. The office room must have wrap-around desk space beneath windows extending to the passenger-side entrance door, with binder-sized cabinets above extending the full wall length but not into the V-nose. The rear room accommodates ramp-style doors with a standard 12-inch extension and continuous hinge for equipment storage and secure cargo management using E-Track systems. The trailer must include wood flooring with undercoating and wear-resistant surface rated for E-Track cargo systems, a climate-controlled office with heating and air-conditioning units, a minimum of five 110-volt household outlets (three positioned above desk areas), roof bows and wall posts on 24-inch centers, floor crossmembers on 16-inch centers, and an RV-style mechanical awning over the passenger-side door extending the trailer length. This amended specification document removes custom elements to ensure the trailer is commercially procurable through standard manufacturer options.
