Contractor questions and answers

1. Will there be any requirement for asbestos testing?

We had another toilet that is similar to the Ashurst Boat ramp done a year or so back. We can use the testing done on the previous toilet at Ashurst to let the companies know what is expected for the boat ramp toilet. The newer composter was built in 1991 so there should be no lead paint or asbestos concerns. This is a two-part question. For the toilets that are being removed and/or demolished:

a. Do the tanks (sewage reservoirs) need to be emptied prior to demolition or removal?

The tanks will need to be pumped. (see notes on construction drawing)

b. Will the tanks (sewage reservoirs) remain in the ground and be backfilled or do they also need to be removed?

The tanks will be removed and disposed of offsite.

2. Will there be any need to dig deeper than 5ft?

Potentially. It will depend on the grading an back fill requirement for the toilet installation.

3. Are there any known utilities near the toilets that will require marking?

I am working on getting the drawing for Moqui campground. There are not utilities at the other sites.

4. How far away is the “onsite” location for the relocation of material that is “unsuitable for backfill”?

We will find a reasonably close spot. The unsuitable material will mainly be large rocks.
