Cleaning specifications:

INITIAL CLEANING: At the beginning of the season, bathrooms will be power washed inside and out to remove cob webs and any other debris that has accumulated over the winter. If power washing appears to be removing paint, or otherwise damaging the toilet or building, an alternate means of cleaning will be discussed and decided upon with a FS representative. Covered entrances on bathrooms will be cleaned, and swept of debris (usually leaves, dirt and needles). Garbage on the floor, in the entrance, or immediately adjacent to the building will be collected and disposed of. Where available, garbage may be placed in the available on-site Forest Service, bear-proof containers. If on-site containers are full, trash should be bagged and removed from the forest for disposal elsewhere. In bathrooms with painted walls that are subject to chipping, walls will be disinfected and wiped down by hand until stains have been removed. The entire riser inside and out will be power washed clean along with the toilet seat to remove any stains or accumulated debris including human waste. No human waste will be visible inside or outside of the riser including the seat and the lid. Seats and riser exterior will be wiped down dry after cleaning. Excess water will be swept or squeegeed out of the toilet area. WD-40 can be used inside the riser to prevent build-up of waste. Toilet paper will be removed during power washing to prevent it from getting wet, and replaced on holders after the toilet has been wiped down dry. Toilet paper of appropriate size will be fully stocked, with no partial rolls left outside of holders. Toilet paper rolls with less than 50% remaining will be replaced with new rolls, all holders will be stocked to maximum capacity. Pine disinfectant detergent (60% pine oil) or Citra-cide cleaning solution is to be used for the cleaning or other green products can be negotiated (The Forest Service will provide disinfectant and WD-40 to the Contractor). The Contractor will let FS representative know when vault is within 6” of the bottom of the riser so the vault can pumped. The Contractor will report any observed damage, or vandalism to FS representative.

SUBSEQUENT CLEANING: After the initial cleaning subsequent cleaning will occur twice-weekly with a strong preference for cleanings on Monday and Friday. Power washing should be conducted on one of the two cleanings so long as paint is not damaged by the power washer. For subsequent cleanings, a bucket or bug type sprayer with cleaning solution and a brush can be used for cleaning in lieu of the power washer as long as all stains, debris, and human waste are removed from the riser, seat, and lid.

No human waste will be visible inside or outside of the riser including the seat and the lid. Bathroom entrance and floors will be swept out. Garbage on the floor, in the entrance, or immediately adjacent to the building will be collected and disposed of. Where available, garbage may be placed in the available bear-proof containers on-site, provided by the Forest Service. If on-site trash containers are full, trash should be bagged and removed from the forest for disposal elsewhere. The entire riser inside and out will be cleaned along with the toilet seat to remove any stains or accumulated human waste. Any excess cleaning solution will be swept or squeegeed from the bathroom floor. WD-40 can be used inside the riser to prevent build-up of business.
