B. System Description

The Redfeather Work Center #1 water system is a seasonal administrative site typically open from May to October that is a non-public, transient water system. The system consists of a 300 feet well, submersible pump and controls, one woven cartridge filter unis, chlorine pump and tank, two hydropneumatic storage tanks, and a distribution system that serves 4 buildings and a Host Site. This water system has had a history of poor water quality due to staging area for mountain pine beetle pesticide mixing. The existing well was drilled in 1990 but subsequent water tests deemed additional monitoring wells to be drilled and monitored. As such a new well was drilled in 2014 and a new water system is to be constructed in 2019/2020

The existing 300-feet deep, 6-5/8-inch diameter well is located in close proximity to the work center entrance. The well was drilled in 1990 (Well Permit #9OVE353)

Water from the well is pumped via a submersible pump to the pressure tanks/filtration/chlorination components located in the basement of the Office Building #303. No pump information was available at the time of this sampling event; however, the pump appears to be sized and operating correctly and there is adequate pump protection. The water flow is controlled by a pressure switch. There are no pump controls other then the pressure switch.

There is a chlorinator/chlorine solution tank on site for the water system and a fitting in the suply line to accommodate chlorine injection.

W- 29

The storage system consists of two hydropneumatic storage tanks (Mixmaster and Flexlite) which provide a total storage capacity of approximately 184 gallons. Within the basement utility room are six faucets; P1, P2, P3, P4, P5, and P6.

The water then flows towards to the distribution system and to the 4 building facilities (with varied points of use) and one host site in which water demand is provided by the pressurized storage tanks.

No daylight drains could be found during this survey cycle and it is assumed that the main lines drain back to the basement utility room in building #303.
