About this file

This document contains site visit notes from December 30, 2024, for the Bearlodge Sewer Line Repair project being solicited by the USDA Forest Service. The notes detail a sewer line issue affecting the Bear Den facility, with a sagging pipe beginning approximately 25 feet from the building cleanout at an estimated depth of 42-46 inches. The problem has caused bathroom backups in the Bear Den building but does not appear to affect the main office building.

The repair work encompasses two distinct sections: a 12'x30' area in the employee parking lot and a 6'x15' portion in the fenced Government vehicle lot, with the broken pipe likely located in the Government lot section. The notes reference a previous repair from three years ago that failed due to inadequate pipe support. Additional site details include the location of the main gas shutoff switch on the Bear Den's outer east wall.

12/30/2024 Bearlodge Sewer Line Repair Site Visit Notes:

1:00 pm

· Sagging pipe begins approximately 25 ft from clean out near the building. Estimated to be buried approximately 42 – 46” deep (estimates only)

· Has caused backups into the Bear Den (building behind main office) bathrooms, male and female.

· Previous repair on pipe 3 years prior: seems there was no material placed to support the pipe from sagging.

· Repair includes the 12’x30’ portion in the employee parking lot as well as the 6’x15’ portion in the fenced Government vehicle lot. So technically 2 sections for repair. Government lot presumably contains the section with the broken pipe.

· Main gas shut off switch is located on the Bear Den outer east wall.

· Questioned whether the issues affected the main building, and they do not as far as we know.
