About this file

This performance work statement outlines requirements for a federal contract to demolish six existing walk-in chambers and install a new concrete floor at a USDA research facility. The contractor must remove all materials from the six chambers, including refrigerant from refrigeration systems, and properly dispose of or recycle components. Electrical, HVAC, plumbing and other connections must be disconnected and capped. Approximately 576 square feet of new 2-inch deep concrete must then be installed to bring the floor level to existing walkways. The contractor must provide a one-year warranty on the installed concrete. Submittals are required documenting the chamber demolition and concrete installation work. An on-site superintendent and operator licenses for equipment are required. The contactor must complete the demolition within 60 days of award and install the concrete floor within the same 60-day period, coordinating access with the location monitor.

Project: Demo Six Existing Walk-in Chambers and Pour Concrete

Floors for New Walk-in Chambers for Building 004

GENERAL INFORMATION:

To prepare for the installation of six new walk-in chambers, we must remove six existing walk-in chambers to make room for the new chambers. There is no space available in our lab to install new chambers without removing the old chambers.

Background: Current walk-in chambers have reached their expected life and need replacement.

The contractor shall demo and remove all materials including refrigerant of six existing walk-in chambers. The contractor will coordinate with the location’s maintenance mechanic during the demo to ensure various parts to be maintained by the location prior to disposing of other items.

Exterior dimensions: Each chamber is approximately 7 feet wide by 11.5 feet deep by 8 feet high.

The demo includes all labor, equipment, supplies, material, and coordination for removing the existing chambers, boxes, fixtures and floors.

Disposal or recycling of the chambers shall be the responsibility of the contractor.

Contractor shall disconnect and cap all electric, HVAC, plumbing or other connections to existing chambers to ensure they can be used for the new chambers being installed.

Demo includes removal of existing refrigeration systems and proper disposal of refrigerant and equipment.

Concrete Installation:

After current chamber material is removed, approximately 576 (24 feet x 12 feet) square feet of concrete, approximately 2 inches in depth will need to be installed. The new concrete will be the floor of the new chambers. The new concrete needs to be level with the current concrete walk ways of the existing floor.

Concrete will be power trowelled and sealed.

Vendor shall provide a full year warranty on concrete after installation.
