Site Visit Questions and Answers:
1. The project duration is 120 calendar days. If necessary, the project may be shut down during the winter, and days during the shut down will not count against the contract duration.
2. Ground disturbance activities that exceed 3 cubic yards are not permitted between October 15 and May 1, this restriction only applies to ground disturbing activities and not the other work described in this contract.
3. Contractor is not permitted to disperse camp on national forest land within the Lake Tahoe Basin.
4. The manufacturer of the single cell honeycomb blinds may include Hunter Douglas, Levolor, Bali, Allen and Roth, Veneta, or approved equal.
5. Blinds shall be light filtering, brown, cordless, or approved equal
6. New door widths at meeks bay need to be 32” which will require the contractor to increase the rough opening to accommodate the door frames.
7. The pope building is a historic structure and must be reroofed using a material that is approved by forest service heritage based on its historic appearance and fire resistance. CeDUR is a material that has been approved in the past and may be used for this contract. Other materials may be considered but must be submitted by the contractor for review and approval by Forest Service heritage personnel.
8. The contractor is responsible for all coordinating with Liberty, as well as paying all fees, and costs associated with obtaining a new electrical service to the Meeks building.
9. The contractor is responsible to investigate and determine whether portions of the existing cast iron waste and vent piping is in the proper location and configuration to serve the new fixtures, the COR will review the contractors determination with respect to applicable plumbing codes and standards.
10. Contractor may supply a Mitsubishi FX-Series mini split with a SEER2 Rating of 21.5, or approved equal. Condensate needs to be provided for in conformance with the manufacturers requirements, and may be discharged in a manner that complies with international building codes.
11. LVT or equivalent will be acceptable provided that the product is warrantied and water proof.
12. The Forest Service will not provide lead abatement specifications, the contractor with need to follow all applicable requirements such as EPA and OSHA.
13. Redwood decking is the only government furnished material. The contractor will be responsible for supplying and installing all other equipment and appliances as described in the contract documents.
Additional Q&A’s Received:
1. Contractor is to paint the window grilles, otherwise referred to as grids or muntins.
2. Schlage is an acceptable supplier of locksets.
3. Pay item 3 includes providing and installing new plywood sheathing throughout the pope barracks on the roof and siding. The government is unable to inspect the condition of the framing beneath the existing siding and is unaware of the presence of rot or deficiencies, however a portion of this pay item is to include the contractor to repair incidental deficiencies or rot in the framing as may be identified once the siding and roofing is removed.
4. Orange peel texture would be acceptable.
5. The government does not have records of testing for the presence of lead based paint. The contractor should plan to implement appropriate testing in conformance with industry standards and applicable codes and regulations.
