The contract opportunity is for the USDA Forest Service, Gila National Forest, Silver City Ranger District to furnish labor and equipment to construct a non-potable water well approximately 150 to 300 feet deep. The government estimate is based on an 8" steel pipe casing, however the contractor should determine the appropriate casing size based on the soil type upon drilling. Contractors are allowed to quote on a 300-foot well depth, which will provide the full cost if the well ends up being 300 feet.

AMENDMENT 1 – Questions and Answers
1) As far as the size casing, is there a certain size? Is there also a certain material?
A: Our government estimate is based on the casing size of 8” steel pipe, however this should be determined by the contractor upon drilling and depending on soil type.
2) They mentioned the well would be anywhere from 150 to 300ft. Would it be acceptable to quote on 300ft?
A: Yes, a quote on 300ft is acceptable. That will give the government a full cost if the well ends up being 300ft.
