SCOPE OF WORK
The work is to provide all labor, materials, equipment, supervision, transportation, training, sampling, and testing necessary to provide and install NSF and/or WQA certified Reverse Osmosis (RO) systems by certified licensed plumbers for three (3) buildings at the Nogales Ranger Station. A recommended manufacturer providing the certified products meeting this requirement is Kinetico Water Company.
The proprietary Kinetico products shall be installed under supervision and inspection by manufacturer’s representative, if Kinetico is not the installer. The Kinetico representative shall be present throughout the installation, including START-UP, to ensure the various systems are properly operating.
The installation locations of these Reverse Osmosis (RO) systems will be coordinated with the COR to select the best locations described within this statement of work (SOW). The specific Reverse Osmosis systems described herein shall be installed according to manufacturer’s recommendations for proper operation and warranty requirements. All new installations shall include appropriate NSF tubing or pipe and appurtenances to extend the treated “permeate” water to existing appliances such as refrigerator, drinking fountains, and ice machine. Work includes selective demolition to existing walls, cabinetry, countertop, and sinks for complete, concealed, and secure installations with repairs to match existing finishes. The new tubing/piping shall be concealed as best as possible when extending the permeate water lines, except shut-off valves shall be accessible.
CORONADO NF, NOGALES RD Page | 4
All installations shall include necessary valves and unions to allow for maintenance. Install required blocking, hangers, trim, flashing, fittings, hose bib, sample taps, faucets, and any necessary supports. All new operable parts shall comply with ADA requirements including reach range and height. Drawings and photos of existing plumbing, fixtures, and appliances are included in the construction drawings.
After installation of the reverse osmosis systems, PFAS sampling and testing shall be conducted utilizing Arizona certified drinking water laboratory and qualified sampler to collect proper PFAS samples. Contractor shall include on the chain of custody under special instructions to email results to the COR directly from the laboratory. Hard copies of the results shall be provided to the COR.
The types of reverse osmosis (RO) systems to be installed consist of point-of-use (POU) devices:
o Under-the-sink o Drinking fountain o Water Stations
All the reverse osmosis systems shall deliver final permeate water providing reduced levels of the compounds of Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) to comply with the proposed Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Maximum Contaminant Levels (MCLs). EPA issued health advisories for PFAS and proposed new, legally, enforceable MCLs for six PFAS substances known to occur in drinking water. The proposed levels are shown in Table 1.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and Perfluorooctane sulfonic acid (PFOS)
The existing Forest Service-Owned well source at the Nogales Ranger Station was tested and determined to contain high levels of PFAS. The detections of PFOA (8.6 ppt) and PFOS (53 ppt) compounds exceeded the U.S. EPA proposed interim health advisory levels of 4.0 ppt.
Based on the high levels detected, the Nogales Ranger Station Water System was immediately discontinued for drinking water consumption. The well is the primary source of water for this
