REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) OFFICIAL RESPONSES

127EAW24R0027 - Inyo NF Vault Toilets

RFI responses will be responded to as necessary in amendment format which will be posted to the solicitation via beta.SAM.gov.

Telephone requests for information will not be accepted or returned.

RFI #1 – The plan calls for a maximum 2:1 cut and fill slope. This will not be possible in some case, since the vault was installed up against the cut slope. How do we address this?

USFS Response – Each case will be taken on an individual basis. When not feasible to construct a 2:1 cut and fill slope, COR may approve cut and fill slopes above the maximum or forego them all together.

RFI #2 – In some cases it won't be possible to stay below the maximum sidewalk slope since the vaults were installed too high. How do we address this?

USFS Response – Each case will be taken on an individual basis. Contractor could submit proposed course of action to meet sidewalk slope requirements or COR could approve a more than maximum slope segment.

RFI #3 – The concrete specs call for 4,000psi. Will the contractor be required to have testing done, or will the mix design suffice?

USFS Response – The mix design shall suffice.

RFI #4 – The concrete spec calls for a 3-1/2" slump, will slump tests be required or will the COR inspecting suffice?

USFS Response – The mix design submittal and COR inspection shall suffice.

RFI #5 – The local quarry does not have 6" crushed rip rap. Will 3"-6" crushed rip rap suffice?

USFS Response – If the local quarry does not have 6” crushed rip rap, 3”-6” crushed rip rap shall suffice.

RFI #6 – Does the contractor need to provide submittals for the concrete and road base?

USFS Response – Yes, contractor shall submit specifications for the concrete and road base.

RFI #7 – Can we use barrier rocks from other sites on the forest instead of importing from the quarry?

FOR OFFICIAL USE ONLY

USFS Response – No, contractor must import material as required.

RFI #8 – What is the last day to submit RFIs?

USFS Response – 15 May 2024.

RFI #9 - The road to Mammoth Lakes Basin is closed according to the visitor center, presumably due to snow. Three of the sites are located in the Mammoth Lakes Basin. Are the roads to the other sites open and if not, when will we be able to access them, as well as the ones in the Basin?

USFS Response – The roads to the other sites are currently snow free. The Town of Mammoth is currently working on plowing the road, not sure on when it will be open.

RFI #10 – Will any excess dirt need to be hauled off from any of the sites, or will it be dispersed on site?

USFS Response – The Contractor is responsible for removal and disposal of all excavated dirt and shall not leave excavated dirt scattered over the site, unless approved by the COR.
