REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) OFFICIAL RESPONSES

127EAW23R0008 - Mountain Chief Metal Barriers

RFI responses will be responded to as necessary in amendment format which will be posted to the solicitation via beta.SAM.gov

Telephone requests for information will not be accepted or returned.

RFI #1 – The Statement of Work Section 6 says, “ Contractor shall transport end panels from

Auburn CA to Foresthill CA along the Foresthill Divide Road.”

Is it necessary to deliver them to Auburn California before delivering to Foresthill

California?

USFS Response – It is not necessary to travel through Auburn but it’s the most direct travel route. Materials do not need to be delivered to Auburn then Foresthill. Deliver only to Foresthill

RFI #2 – The Statement of Work Section 1 calls for 2 3/8 Schedule 40 Non-Galvanized Pipe, however, the picture of existing End Panel shows galvanized. Is it necessary to have the product galvanized prior to delivery?

USFS Response – Non- Galvanized is acceptable. End panels shall be painted Forest Green.

To clarify, only the gates needs to be painted, not the end panels for the fence.

RFI #3 – The end panels (see diagram below) are non-galvanized. Are the panels unpainted as well?

USFS Response – Non- Galvanized is acceptable. End panels shall be painted Forest Green.

To clarify, only the gates needs to be painted, not the end panels for the fence.

RFI #4 – What are the thickness of the pipes for the gate (diagram below)?

USFS Response – 2 3/8 Schedule 40 Non-Galvanized Pipe

RFI #5 – On page 1 of 2 of the Width Limiter Gate Fabrication and Installation Plans, Note 8 states “see equestrian access gate installation details for sign schedule and additional installation notes”. Equestrian access gate installation details and notes are not available in the remining pages. Can you please provide the equestrian access gate details and notes.

USFS Response – See attached Equestrian Access Gate hinge and footing detail and notes.

RFI #6 – End Panel: Please confirm that no caps are desire on posts.

USFS Response – Caps not needed

RFI #7 – End Panel: Post dimension on SOW is shown as 2 3/8”. Please confirm that this is a standard 2” Post with an OD of 2 3/8”.

USFS Response –See attached specification.

RFI #8 – Gate: Drawings indicate that we should match Equestrian Access Gate Hinge and

Footing detail. Was this detail provided? Is the gate shown in he picture the Equestrian

Access Gate? If so, the picture and the drawing conflict on the hinge. Please advise.

USFS Response – See attached Equestrian Access Gate hinge and footing detail.

RFI #9 – Will shop drawings need to be provided as a submittal?

USFS Response – Design shall be submitted to ensure specification is met.

RFI #10 – Are there any signs included in the SOW?

USFS Response – Red/White cautionary signs (2) are noted on the gates for installation.

RFI #11 – Because of the remoteness of the gates, will a concrete bag mix be approved? What type of testing is required?

USFS Response – 5000 psi quikrete bag mix or equivalent is acceptable so long as contractor follows manufacturer's specification for install.
