1.0 STATEMENT OF WORK

Replacement of three slide gate operators

Location

National Wildlife Research Center (NWRC) 2820 East University Avenue Gainesville, FL 32641

Background

The USDA, APHIS, WS, NWRC, Florida Field Station in Gainesville was built in 1963. The 26-acre site has a main building of offices and laboratories, and three roofed outdoor aviaries. The field station is fenced entirely for safety and security with three slide gates.

The three slide gate operators are approximately 15 years old, requiring several repairs and service calls through the past few years. These gates have been through multiple lighting strikes, electrical surges, and suffered other damage over the years. As such, the Florida field station needs the operators replaced. Along with a 3-year preventative service maintenance agreement, performed quarterly.

Requirements

NWRC seeks a contractor to remove, dispose and replace new slide gate operators. The operators must be commercial/industrial-grade quality, like the Viking H10™ model, or equal.

H-10™ slide gate operator features the V-Flex control board with on-board diagnostics, LCD display, and a removable power supply box for low voltage wiring. The new chassis design provides easy viewing of the controls and integrated post-mount provisions. It features a built-in heater, increased gate capacity of up to 2200 lbs., a five-year commercial warranty and battery backup system. The H-10™ includes simple push-button digital limits setup, lockable cover, and convenient access to the switch for manual release.

Gate 1

Install new single slide gate operator on a new post mount kit existing concrete pad, slide orientation R or L, a variable timer setting option and approximately 25’ of chain.

Install UL 325 listed pedestrian safety devices, include photo eye protective hood and reflector cover. The photo eyes must comply with the Gainesville fire emergency response requirements.

A vehicular loop, saw cut in ground, wire to be XHHW, to include one detector and wire harness. Pull new 18/6 wire through existing chase, from operator to existing keypad.

Gate 2

Install new single slide gate operator on a new post mount kit existing concrete pad, slide orientation R or L, a variable timer setting option and approximately 25’ of chain. Pull new 18/6 wire through existing chase, from operator to existing keypad. Installation of a standalone

Solicitation 12639524Q0057, Amendment 0001 keypad, with high-capacity programmability. Any cutting and patching of the driveway must be included.

Gate 3

Install new single slide gate operator on a new post mount kit existing concrete pad, slide orientation R or L, a variable timer setting option and approximately 25’ of chain.

Install two UL 325 listed pedestrian safety devices, include photo eye protective hood and reflector cover. The photo eyes must comply with the Gainesville fire emergency response requirements. A vehicular loop, saw cut in ground, wire to be XHHW, to include one detector and wire harness.

Hours

Weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Hours may be pre-arranged with staff on site as needed to complete the installation.
