Bunker Demolition Schedule of Items - 1 Bunker Numbers: 811-114, 811-115, 811-116, 811-117, 811-128, 811-129, 811-130, and 811-131 Differences from a typical Bunker Demolition as specified in the scope of work:
All eight (8) of the bunkers in this schedule are located within or immediately adjacent to an existing wetland as show on attachment titled “SOI 1 Wetlands”. Work shall be completed with minimal disturbance to this wetland. Due to the extent of the wetlands surrounding these bunkers, it may be necessary to complete the majority of this work when the ground is frozen. Impacts to the wetlands can be minimized by working under frozen soil conditions. Adequate time in the spring would then be allowed to complete the final grading and seeding in these areas. The contractor shall determine the type and quantity of temporary measures as well as the schedule required to work around these bunkers while maintaining the integrity of the wetland. Silt fencing, wood matting, temporary gravel/soil fill, or other methods may be required to operate any machinery in the soft soils or possibly porous gravels without damaging the wetlands. The contractor shall obtain approval from the Contracting Officer’s Representative, (COR) Bob Hommes before implementing any temporary construction operations that would encroach upon the wetland.
Gravel ballast from the road and rail line plus and any gravel around the bunker foundations, along with all excess soil must be removed and deposited in the area indicated on the attached “SOI 1 – Haul Routes and Berm Locations”. Material must be hauled on the road running in front of bunker 811-118, H-Line road. Additionally, H-Line Road route must remain open and passable until all of the bunkers located north and east of bunker 811-118 are removed.
Gravel and soil shall be kept separate and each berm is to be constructed to allow water to drain off the berms. Berms shall be placed on the north side of the rail bed to avoid damage to the existing cattle fence that runs along the south side of the work area. The haul route shall remain passable between the new berm and the existing cattle fence. Maximum length of the berm shall limited to 450’.
This work requires the contractor to supply and distribute both the seed and mulch required to stabilize the work areas. As always, the contractor shall limit the amount of disturbed ground needed to complete the work.
See attachments for SOI 1 - haul routes, wetlands, and locations.

A designated wetland completely surrounds the perimeter of Bunker 811-99 as show on attachment titled “SOI 2 Wetlands”. Work shall be completed with minimal disturbance to this wetland. Historical data indicates that bunker 811-99 was constructed close to the centerline of the path of Prairie Creek before the army channelized and straightened the creek around 1940. The wetland surrounding this bunker is part of that old oxbow. Within 30’ of the southeast corner of the bunker is an oxbow pond that has been observed to hold water year-round. The contractor shall determine the type and quantity of temporary measures required to work around this bunker while maintaining the integrity of the wetland. Silt fencing, wood matting, temporary gravel/soil fill, or other methods may be required to operate your machinery in the soft soils or possibly porous gravels surrounding bunker 811-99. The contractor shall obtain approval from the Contracting Officer’s Representative, (COR) Bob Hommes before implementing any temporary demolition operations that would encroach upon the wetland.
Gravel ballast from the road and rail line plus and any gravel around the bunker foundations, along with all excess soil must be removed and deposited in the area indicated on the attached “SOI 2 – Haul Routes and Berm Locations”. Due to the location of an existing cattle fence, the shortest route between the berm location and Bunker 811-132 is blocked.

Bunker Numbers: 811-84, 811-85, 811-86, 811-87, 811-88, and 811-89 Differences from a typical Bunker Demolition as specified in the scope of work:
A designated wetland completely surrounds the perimeter of Bunker 811-88 as show on attachment titled “SOI 3 Wetlands”. Work shall be completed with minimal disturbance to this wetland. Even the road in front of the bunker may bet wet and or soft at times. The contractor shall determine the type and quantity of temporary measures required to work around this bunker while maintaining the integrity of the wetland. Silt fencing, wood matting, temporary gravel/soil fill, or other methods may be required to operate your machinery in the soft soils surrounding bunker 811-88. The contractor shall obtain approval from the Contracting Officer’s Representative, (COR) Bob Hommes before implementing any temporary construction options.
Gravel ballast from the road and rail line plus and any gravel around the bunker foundations, along with all excess soil must be removed and deposited in the area indicated on the attached “SOI 3 - Soil and Gravel Berm Location”. Gravel and soil shall be kept separate and each berm is to be constructed to allow water to drain off the berms. Bunker Numbers: 811-68, 811-69, 811-70, 811-71, 811-72, 811-73, and 811-74 Differences from a typical Bunker Demolition as specified in the scope of work:
This work includes additional earthmoving due to the road and rail approach that must also be removed at this time. Removal of the approach to Prairie Creek, along with the turn-around at Bunker 811-68, is to be included with this work as shown on attached drawing titled “SOI 4 Fill Removal Detail”. The elevated approach and turn-around average about 6 feet above finish grade for the first 300’ south of the creek, then tapers to surrounding grade over the next 200’. All 500’ of the approach shall be removed which has been estimated to include approximately 4,600 bank cubic yards of rock and soil. From this point continuing south all the way to Bunker 811-74, the existing ditch can be filled and the road and rail bed shall be obliterated to the specifications of the base contract for a typical bunker.
Due to the elevated approach, Bunker 811-68 was also constructed higher than surrounding grade and therefore must be demolished down 2 feet below grade as measured at the toe of the soil covering the bunker.
A designated wetland exists immediately adjacent to the north and east perimeter of Bunker 811-73. Work shall be completed without disturbance to this wetland. Activities shall take place along the south and west sides of the bunker as much as possible. Excess soil cannot even be temporarily moved onto the wetland areas.
Gravel ballast from the road and rail line plus and any gravel around the bunker foundations, along with all excess soil must be removed and deposited in the area indicated on the attached “Soil and Gravel Berm Location”. Gravel and soil shall be kept separate and each berm is to be constructed to allow water to drain off the berms.
