Industry Questions and Government Responses

RFQ 12505B24Q0120

Tractor and Planter Transport

1. Question: What type of transportation equipment is being requested?

(Flatbed, Dry Van, or a low boy) Response: Low boy with ramp or detachable trailer is required. Tractor height is approximately 118”

2. How many equipment’s are being moved? Is the tractor and planter two separate equipment’s?

Response: The load is one (1) John Deere 6110M tractor with a mounted corn planter attached.

3. Once the equipment has been delivered, for planting/harvesting, do carriers have to wait for the equipment to be ready for transportation to the next location?

Response: No. The equipment will be unloaded and the carrier can leave the site. Carrier will be notified one day in advance of when equipment is to be picked up from the site.

4. Is the carrier contracted for the entire period of performance (April 22, 2024 – June 30, 2024) or only when contacted to PU and Deliver the equipment?

Response: Carrier is notified separately each time the equipment needs to be moved. Carrier will be given as much advanced notice as possible, but requirement is carrier must be available for a move on a one-day notice (i.e., to be able to move the next day after being contacted).

5. Is the bid All- inclusive or submitted at a line haul rate?

Response: The resulting contract will be a firm fixed price contract. A firm-fixed-price contract provides for a price that is not subject to any adjustment on the basis of the contractor’s cost experience in performing the contract

6. Does the carrier have to be local?

Response: The prime contractor does not have to be local and can hire a local subcontractor

7. Are you looking for a resume of our employees, or just a company summary showing time in business, etc.

Response: Subfactor 1 Specialized Experience is speaking to the company.

8. Can you please provide details on the mounted corn planters? We are looking for dimensions and weight. In the absence of this, you can provide the name of the manufacturer and model number as an alternative.

Response: Net hauling weight of tractor and mounted planter is 18,000 pounds. Width does not require wide load permit.

9. Will there be 1 tractor and 1 mounted corn planter shipper per lane pair, or 4 total units of each during the shipping period?

Response: There is one tractor with mounted planter to be moved 4 times for this contract.

10. What kind of equipment is required for transportation, a lowboy trailer with a ramp or regular flatbed.

Response: See Question and Response #1

11. In case the flatbed is a requirement, do you have the means to load/unload the tractor.

Response: see response #1.

12. Is 18,000 lbs a total weight of tractor plus planter or just the tractor itself?

Response: The estimated weight is for the tractor with a mounted corn planter attached

13. What are the specs (dims/weight) for the tractor and planter?

Response: Standard Dimensions for a John Deere 6110M. Approximate weight of 18,000 lbs. Wide load permit is not required. Tractor height will be approximately 118”

14. What is the schedule for each move?

Response: Each move is scheduled separately based on weather and field conditions. All 4 moves to occur between 22 April and 20 June 2024 (ideally prior to about May 10). Carrier will be given as much advanced notice as possible, but must be able to move with as little as one day advanced notice (i.e., be able to move the day after notification).

15. Do you have photos of the tractor and planter?

Response: stock photos of equipment shown (same models, not actual equipment). Planter attached to tractor for transport; tractor will have GPS globe on cab (not shown).
