Q&A – 12505B23Q0327
Question 1: Per Dell Team’s message: The Dell PowerEdge M640 has gone end of life and is no longer available. How would you like to proceed? Could you please provide an alternative server model, or other information to us?
Answer 1: We are looking for recertified or refurbished Dell PowerEdge M640s that come with a warranty of at least three years for our PowerEdge M1000e chassis. Only the PowerEdge M6XX and M8XX servers our compatible with our M1000e enclosure, and so we cannot accept any alternative models.
Question 2: Please advise, how do the M640's need to be configured?
Answer 2: The specifications are listed in the statement of work
Question 3: It seems the M640 Servers have gone End of Life. Generating a new design/configuration in the newer server is a relatively easy transition. Would it be okay to provide the newer model in response to the RFQ?
Answer 3: there are no newer models that are compatible with the PowerEdge M1000e chassis. The latest Blade chassis from Dell is the PowerEdge VRTX which we do not have. Thus, the M640s are the latest model that we can accept.
