Question 7: Is there any existing ACMs (asbestos) in the existing windows, window caulking, etc.?

Answer 7: Contrractor shall assume that vermiculite insulation is only present in South Administrative Wing and South Wing (i.e. 1966 construction). USDA does not have any records indicating if the windows and associated caulking have asbestos containing material.

For the proposal, Contractors shall assume the asbestos is not present at the windows and associated caulking.

Answer 13: Contractor shall submit proposal in accordance with the contract documents (i.e.

drawings, specifications). Variations will be addressed per Specification Section 01 33 00, page 7, paragraph 1.8.

Answer 15: The questions and answers are incorporated as an Addendum to the Solicitation.

Question 16: Will poured and de-bridged thermal breaks be acceptable? The specifications state “Each window must be anchored at each side of the thermal break, such that fracture of the thermal break will not result in loss of attachment of window”.

This would not be achievable without receptor.

Answer 16: Yes, poured and de-bridged thermal breaks are acceptable.

Question 17: You will get the exact same Class 1 anodized finish whether the warranty is for 5 years or 15 years per the specifications. You could save some cost by asking for 5 year warranty on the finish. The finisher will warranty the finish for 5 years and the manufacturer will have to add to the price to cover the additional 10 years, while the owner gets the same finish regardless. As long as you require Class 1 anodized (equivalent to 215R1) you’ll get the same finish regardless. Do you want to change to 5 years?

Answer 17: Reference specification section 08 51 13 paragraph 1.8.A.2.c.

For the proposal, Conractor shall revise paragraph, warranty on metal finish shall be 10 years.
