Question: You specified Torit equipment. Would you accept "or equivalent" systems?

Answer: Torit equipment was specified because it collects respirable silica dust. Alternative equipment is acceptable so long as it collects respirable silica dust particulate size 0.3 – 1.0µ.

Question: What type of explosion protection are you utilizing on the wood dust collector?

Answer: The original dust collectors are 30 years old. So far as I know there no explosion protection.

Question: Are there circuits available to add / reuse the new dust collectors to the electrical Main panel?

Answer: Existing 120V and 460v circuits available.

Question: Are there existing Donald Torit units that are being removed and you are hoping for direct replacements? If so, we would need full model and serial numbers to quote.

Answer: Existing Donaldson units are to be removed. Solicitation specified Donaldson Torit 2-2 and VS-1500.

Question: Can plans and specs be provided?

Answer: see attachment

Question: Can you specify things like CFM, voltage, dust type, total static pressure of system (which includes 6" of pressure drop of filters), is the application considered combustible and/or explosive, KST value available, is there returning air in the application, what are you discharging dust into?

Answer: 1200/1600 cfm, 460v, one unit will collect dust from ground soil/roots (must collect respirable silica dust), one unit will collect ground plants/roots (must collect respirable silica dust), one unit will collect saw dust (no need for silica dust collection). Soil/plant grinding non explosive, wood shop unknown, air returns to room.

Question: Are dust collectors owner furnished or contractor furnished?

Answer: Contractor finished.

Question: Will bid date remain 8/18/2020?

Answer: If the closing date of this solicitation changes from 8/18/2020 it will be specified in a modification to the solicitation.

Question: There are currently no plans or specification for this project. Can we get this information?

Answer: see attachment

Question: Can we get a contact at the facility for the electrician & controls contractor to call to look this project over?

Answer: A site visit was not scheduled, however if it is decided to schedule one it will be specified in a modification to the solicitation on Beta SAM.

Question: Is there an official bid proposal form you want us to use or will a quote on company letterhead suffice?

Answer: Please submit your bid proposal on letterhead.

Question: Will this be sales tax exempt?

Answer: Yes this contract will be tax exempt.

Question: Will a bid bond or payment & performance bonds be required?

Answer: This will be a service contract, therefore bonds will not be required.

Question: It appears there are some wage rates were posted with the solicitation. They don’t appear to be current Davis Bacon wages for Story county, Iowa. Do Davis Bacon wage rates apply for this project?

Answer: This will be a service contract, therefore only Service Contract Act wages apply.

Question: Are Buy American or American Iron & steel compliances required?

Answer: No

Question: Will certified payrolls be required?

Answer: Yes

Question: What’s the required length of the parts & labor warranty for this project?

Answer: 1 year

Question: What is the proposed start & end date for this project?

Answer: 9/17/2020 – 10/7/2020

Question: Purchase and installation of new Donaldson Torit DFO 2-2 (2 ea.) and (1 ea.) VS-1500 dust collector. The DFO 2-2 dust collectors will be replacing the dust collectors in the soil and plant grinding room (separate systems). VS-1500 replaces the dust collector in the wood shop. The VS-1500 is on a stand. Are these collectors owner furnished & we install or do we provide & install them?

Answer: Contractor provide and install.

Question: If the collectors are owner furnished; Can we get supplier information &/or a submittal on the new collector so we can figure installation requirements?

Answer: N/A
