STATEMENT OF WORK

DESCRIPTION OF WORK – LONG TERM SOIL PRODUCTIVITY STUDY

Thirty year measurements of Long Term Soil Productivity sites in the Pacific Southwest Region of the U.S. Forest Service.

It is the purpose of this contract to secure services for conifer measurements, vegetation biomass harvesting or inventorying, forest floor measuring and collecting, and soil bulk density sampling for seven of the twelve study sites of the Pacific Southwest Region’s Long Term Soil Productivity Study. These tasks are done at 5 year intervals on each LTSP site. This work starts on each site when that site becomes five years old. The work is scheduled on a yearly basis reflecting when each site reached the age of 30. Yearly measurements scheduled under this contract will be made after the growing season in the fall (before leaf fall) or in the spring of the following year before the next growing season starts.

This contract will require the contractor to perform the following tasks at each site according to the specifications listed:

1. Conifer measurements of diameter, total height, height to base of live crown, and crown width.

2. Vegetation biomass harvesting or inventorying of the above-ground vegetation growing within marked subplots, and preparation of harvested materials for transport to Redding, California.

3. Bulk density soil sampling at three different soil depths at pre-marked locations within the LTSP study plots and preparation of sampled material for transport to Redding, California.,

4. Forest floor collection at eight points/one-half acre plot and forest floor depth measurements at thirty points/one-half acre plot, and preparation of collected material for transport to Redding, California.

The period of performance of this contract includes 4 ordering periods within September 01, 2019 through November 1, 2024 if all ordering periods exercised.
