About this file
This document is instructional guidance on how to follow specific federal contract opportunities on SAM.gov to receive email alerts for changes.
The document provides step-by-step instructions for users to login to SAM.gov, search for specific projects using solicitation numbers (formatted as 1244552#Q#### or 1244552#R####), and click the "Follow" button at the top right of the posting to enable email notifications. When followed, the button changes to "Unfollow," which users can click to stop receiving notifications. The guidance emphasizes that this feature applies to any entity's projects in SAM, not limited to Forest Service opportunities. Users are advised to periodically check their SPAM/JUNK email folders, as notification emails will contain direct links to project details in SAM. The document includes two visual examples: a screenshot showing the location of the "Follow" button on a sample contract opportunity posting for the U.S. Forest Service (Department of Agriculture), and a sample email notification showing how changes are communicated, including the record ID, description, time of update, change description, and a "View Details" link to access full information about the solicitation update.
