Project GREY TOWERS PAVEMENT PRESERVATION and REHABILITATION

General Information

1.0 Scope of Work

This project consists of removal and disposal of existing asphalt surface, and placement of new asphalt materials.

Work includes, but is not limited to mobilization, asphalt removal and disposal, culvert cleanout, aggregate base, concrete pads, machine grading, asphalt paving and permanent pavement markings.

Please note that this is a Federal Construction project and Davis Bacon wages apply. Refer to appropriate appendix for current wage determination.

A. PROJECT LOCATION

Project is located within Grey Tower National Historic Site, Pike County, Pennsylvania.

Project area 1:

Includes Service Drive access, and parking areas. See location map on plan cover sheet and attached maps.

B. PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE

The period of performance of this project is scheduled to be 30 Days.

No work may begin prior to receipt of the Notice to Proceed.

Construction of all work items shall be performed efficiently during consecutive workdays.

C. The Forest Service, US Department of Agriculture has adopted the Standard Specifications for Construction of Roads and Bridges of Federal Highway Projects, FP-14, U.S. Customary Units (FP-14) for construction of National Forest System Roads and other projects.

The full provisions of FP-14 shall apply as applicable on the construct, unless modified by these Special Project Specifications.

2.0 Background

The existing paved surface at the Maintenance Facility for the National Historic Site at Grey Towers has exceeded the service life and needs repair and rehabilitation. The Grey Towers site includes multiple building and paved roads. This project is focused on the road infrastructure and begins addressing deferred maintenance.

3.0 Technical Requirements / Tasks

See Appendix C

4.0 Government Furnished

Government shall provide access to the project locations. The contractor must coordinate construction schedule within the limits identified.

Work at the site shall be conducted between Monday through Friday, 0700 until 1700. Work may be allowed on Saturday and Sunday with a minimum of 72-hour notice from the Contractor and written authorization by the Contracting Officer Representative(COR). No on-site work shall be performed on Government Holidays.

All testing data and documentation prepared in accordance with Contractor performance of this project shall be submitted to the COR, and is the property of the Government.
