About this file
This letter from the District Health Department #10 approves the alteration of an existing public water supply system serving Kneff Lake Campground. The proposed alterations include adding a new well house with bladder pressure tanks, removing the Whitewater tank, extending the well casing, and installing a new well cap. No new service connections or alterations to current water connections are proposed. Upon review, the department determined the proposed alterations align with construction standards. The owner/operator must notify the department upon project completion so a final inspection and sanitary survey can be scheduled to verify the alterations match the application. The water supply must be properly disinfected by a licensed well driller after completion. At least two consecutive bacteriological samples collected 24 hours apart with no chlorine residual are also required, in addition to seasonal start-up procedures.

RE: Alteration of an existing public water supply for KNEFF LAKE CAMPGROUND WSSN 2005320 Source ID 001
Dear Owner/Operator:
This Department received a permit application to alter the existing Type II public water supply system serving Kneff Lake Campground WSSN 2005320 Source ID 001, located off S Stephan Bridge Rd in Grayling, MI. The proposed alteration project entails: addition of a new well house with new bladder pressure tanks, removal of the Whitewater tank, extension of the well casing, and well cap installation. No new service connections will be added nor will the current water connections in the campground be altered. Upon application reviewal, it has been determined the proposed alteration aligns with the required construction standards and the proposed construction project is hereby allowed to commence. If the alteration project requires any revisions that directly affect the description as written on the application, please reach out to me immediately.
As a reminder, all portions of the water supply, including the well, pumps, pressure tank and piping must be properly disinfected after completion of the alteration project. A Michigan Licensed Well Driller must conduct the disinfection. After disinfecting and pumping waste, a minimum of two consecutive bacteriological water samples must be collected at least 24 hours apart, with no chlorine residual in the system. The samples do not replace the need to conduct Seasonal Start Up procedures.
Once the construction project is complete and the aforementioned samples have been collected, please notify me so I may schedule a final inspection and Sanitary Survey. The final inspection and Sanitary Survey are necessary to verify that the alteration project has been completed as written on the application that has been received and reviewed and to ensure the facility file accurately reflects the water supply system update.
If you have questions regarding the alteration of the existing public water supply requirements, please contact this office.
