Structural Design Loads:
Live Loads:
Roof: 40 PSF (Snow) Grated Floor: 250 PSF Base: 500 PSF Wall, Roof & Floor: 100 PSF
Dead Loads:
Roof: 20 PSF Floor: 85 PSF Wall: 20 PSF
Wind Design Data: (Per IBC 2018) Risk Category II Basic Wind Speed - 150 Mph, 3 sec gust. Exposure Category - C
Seismic Design Data: Worst case Per IBC 2018
A) Dimensions - 34'6" X 8'2" X 8'-4" High.Exterior.
B) Spill Containment - Internal spill containment is a major design feature of the storage container. When filled with 55 gallon drums stored upright and unstacked, the container will contain a minimum of the total leakage from one-quarter (25%) of the drums. Spill Containment is 6" Deep.
C) Floor - The floor of the container is constructed of 10 gauge steel and incorporates a false floor system to prevent the release of hazardous liquids and solids if they are discharged from a primary container.
D) Walls & Roof - The walls and roof are fabricated using 16 GA Bent Wall Panels and Structural Wall Tubes.
E) Doors - Non Combustible Steel Units are Supplied with 16 Gauge Doors. The doors have a 3 pt. Locking Mechanism with a Padlock Hasp, Interior Safety Override and Door Hold Open.
F) Ventilation - The container is equipped with vents for natural ventilation.
G) Grounding - The container is equipped with one exterior static grounding connection.
H) Seismic Tie Down - The container is equipped with provisions for securing the building to the ground per seismic Zone 4 regulations.
Workmanship:
A) Steel Fabrication - The steel used to fabricate the container is free from kinks, and sharp bends. The manufacturing process does not reduce the strength of the steel to a value less than intended by the design. Each manufacturing process is done neatly and accurately, and all bends are made by controlled means to insure uniformity of size and shape.
B) Welding - The welding procedures employed are in accordance with the filler metal specifications of the American Welding Society and in cooperation with the ASTM. All welds are of sufficient size and shape to develop the full design strength of the parts connected by the welds. These welds transmit the imposed stresses without permanent deformation or failure when subject to proof of storage loads.
C) Painting - After a thorough cleaning process the exterior and interior of the container are painted with a self-priming chemical resistant durable urethane paint.

INSTALLATION & END USER RESPONSIBILITIES
Gauley Storage Unit Monongahela National Forest Service Order 12444322F087 Job (337)34X8-NCDW22001
End User Responsibilities and Installation Instructions
End user is responsible for offloading, installation, permitting and proper use of the Building as required by their Local Jurisdiction. The Manufacturer is not responsible for any damage to people or property due to the misuse or in proper installation of its products. End user is responsible for determining proper storage and allowable quantities of hazardous materials used and stored within the building as well as proper classification of electrical equipment used within the structure. The Manufacturer is not responsible for any damage resulting from offloading or installation.
Offload Instructions: Building Weight is Approximately 17,000# Crane Rigging:
Forklift Pockets are Provided. All must be used to achieve a balanced lift. Crane Capacity is to be determined by the equipment handler based on the weight of the unit, type of lift and site conditions. Slings are to be placed through the forklift pockets provided. Buildings are to be supported at the middle and both end pockets. Spreader Bars are to be used to protect exterior mounted equipment.
Forklift Procedure:
Forklift Pockets are Provided. All must be used to achieve a balanced lift. Forklift Pockets must be used when lifting the buildings with a forklift. Any attempts to lift the buildings at other locations may result in damage to the floor of the unit. Appropriate Capacity is to be determined by the equipment handler based on the weight of the unit, site conditions and length of forks.
Installation Instructions/End User Responsibilities: Aerosol Touch up Paint is shipped inside the building.
1. Acquire all proper permitting for the use and installation of the unit as required by the local jurisdiction.
2. Contract with a Licensed Electrician to provide power to the load center. (If Provided)
3. Provide Level Surface Capable of Supporting the Weight of the Unit and contents/equipment to be stored.
4. Any dirt or water which enters the building during shipment must be clean and dry prior to using the building. Grating and supports are removable for clean-up of the secondary containment area.
5. Seal all holes made in the buildings to close openings for shipping with the Caulking Provided. (if applicable)
6. Inspect Building for Loose Grating Clips. Shipping and Handling may cause the Grating clips to become loose. Grating must be checked and secured prior to use of the building.
7. Inspect Building for Gaps along the interior of the forklift pockets and other interior and exterior seams. All seams are sealed with Caulking at the Factory as Required prior to paint and upon final shipping inspection. Gaps in the caulking may result from Transportation and Handling. All gaps must be sealed to prevent moisture intrusion prior to using the building.
8. Touch up any paint damaged during transportation, offloading or installation of the building to protect steel surfaces from rusting.
9. Dry Chemical Fire Suppression System: (If provided) The dry chemical fire extinguishing system is NOT armed during shipment. This system must be armed by a qualified technician. Disarm the system before relocation and arm it when relocation is complete. Fusible links should be replaced every six (6) months.
10. Anchor Building to foundation as required by local jurisdiction. Anchor Pads are provided as part of the building at all 4 corners. Any Engineering required for proper anchoring is the responsibility of the end user.
11.Your Chemical Storage Locker containment sump was leak tested at the factory. It is possible that improper handling during shipping could cause a fracture or rupture to the sump. It is strongly recommended that the locker be leveled, the sump filled with water and allowed to stand overnight. Any leaks should then be readily apparent. It is also recommended that this test be made each time the locker is relocated or after a spill clean-up. The booklet located inside your unit provides an inspection log. Sump inspections (at least every 72 hours) and all maintenance activity should be recorded.
12.Explosion Venting: (If provided) The explosion relief panel limiting chains have been secured for shipping. Remove tie downs (see tags on relief panels) before storing chemicals. If a roof mounted explosion relief cap is provided, it should be exercised monthly (with the application of a light oil if necessary) to keep the hinges free of rust and operating smoothly.
13.Forced Ventilation: (If provided) The intake and discharge ducts on the forced air circulation fan should be checked daily for obstructions, and the fan and damper hinge lubricated biannually.
