Vectorizing of land Maps Solicitation # 12445022Q0031

Questions and answers

1. Could we review the 125 georeferenced images? Can you make the 125 map files available for potential respondents to download?

Answer: We can provide a sample.

2. In lieu of providing the full collection for download, can representational samples be provided as part of the notice in order to determine approximate complexity of the source documents?

Answer Submitted: Yes, you will have about a day to do the transition.

Answer: We can provide a sample.

3. Can you provide a copy of a typical sample map that you want vectorized? I would like to see the density of linework involved, either a scan or a photo?

Answer: Yes, we are providing a sample. The data are scanned line maps that have been georeferenced. We are providing a sample of the input scanned maps and an example of a vectorized map as well as an index map.

4. What is the file format the map data is in and what format it is to be returned?

Answer: The data will be provided in Geotiff format. The results should be provided in Arc shapefile format.

5. Who was the incumbent performing these services?

Answer: LAND INFO Worldwide Mapping LLC, Contract # 12445021P0059

6. What is the previous contract number?

Answer: Contract # 12445021P0059

7. How many attributes needs to be filled on the attribute table or if we’re going to be provided a table with the codes to be used as reference?

Answer: Please see the sample raster map. The attributes needed for each polygon are the codes for land cover that are shown in each polygon.

8. I would like to know the dimensions of each map so I can determine size delivery requirement?

Answer: The maps are about 23" by 30"

9. Are we join the 125 vectors maps with other vector areas so that these joined vectors complete the map of Puerto Rico or what would they represent?

Answer: The 125 vectorized maps are to be joined together. Polygons extending from one map to another will need to be joined. This block of maps would be joined with another two blocks of maps.

10. Do the 125 maps have ID's to determine place where they will be joined or is this to be done visually/manually?

Answer: The maps are scanned and georeferenced. There are some tick marks as well, but usually only four of them.

11. What does 1950-1 mean?

Answer: This should read 1950-51 (the years of the air photos)

12. What software and version are currently used for mapping, analysis, and map production?

Answer: ArcGIS. The files should be delivered as shapefiles.

13. What standardized schema (GIS layer format) was used in the previous vectorization effort?

Answer: The previous files are in Arc shapefile format.

14. What attributes are required to be populated for the vector layers?

Answer: The codes within each polygon, which correspond to a set of land cover classes.

15. Could the government provide an example (PDF) of a georeferenced map used to generate the vector data and an example (PDF) of the vector data generated?

Answer: Yes, the government will provide a sample.

16. Could the government please provide the classification list (including the RGB values for each class) used in the previously vectorized datasets?

Answer: The previous datasets have no color code. They are developed from line drawings and are polygons only.
