About this file

This document is a set of Questions and Answers related to Solicitation Number 12444324Q0050 for the GMF Finger Lakes NF Stiltgrass Treatments contract opportunity.

The contract objective is to treat the invasive Japanese stiltgrass plant along Breakneck Creek on the Finger Lakes National Forest and adjoining private land. The work involves herbicide treatments of stiltgrass infestations over the 2024 growing season, with treatment timing dependent on the plant's phenology. The solicitation specifies a requirement for a contractor with a current Certified Pesticide Applicator license in New York to perform this work. The 10-acre treatment area encompasses scattered stiltgrass populations along Breakneck Creek, with the actual area requiring treatment being less than 10 acres based on the provided map and shapefiles.

Q1. My question is: For the 10 acres of treatment is it "survey and locate stiltgrass in scattered populations throughout the 10 acres along breakneck creek" or is it 10 acres of stiltgrass to treat?

A1. The answer to the question is that the work will be to treat the stiltgrass in scattered populations throughout the 10 acres along breakneck creek. We have the stiltgrass locations and will provide a map and a shape file that the contractor can use to navigate to each infestation. The area around the infestations computes to 10 acres, but the actual exact space to be treated, in reality would be less than that.
