About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document for solicitation 12444125Q0068 addressing contractor inquiries about septic vault pumping services for the Nantahala Ranger District. The document confirms this is a new contract award (not a renewal) and clarifies that contractors must provide their own water if needed, as the government will only add engine water to vaults after pumping is completed. Contractors are responsible for waste disposal with no designated disposal area provided by the government.
The document provides specific vault capacities for 13 locations ranging from 500 gallons (Dirty John and Moss Knob) to 3,000 gallons (Ferebee Memorial), with most facilities being either single vault toilets (1,000 gallons) or double vault toilets (2,000-2,500 gallons). The estimated quantities in the price schedule represent the number of annual visits to each location. Notable facilities include Whiteside Mountain with a 2,500-gallon double vault, Balsam Lake Lodge with 1,500 gallons, and Nantahala Launch Site with 2,000 gallons. The contract structure includes a base year plus four option years for the Department of Agriculture Forest Service.
