About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) excerpt addressing clarifications on a federal contract solicitation for walk-in freezer equipment and installation.

Product Specifications and Design: The solicitation requires walk-in freezers with interior and exterior finishes of 22-gauge minimum thickness type 304 or 316 smooth stainless steel. A bidder questioned whether 26-gauge Galvalume finish would be acceptable for the exterior; the government clarified that stainless steel is required per the Statement of Work (SOW) Part 2 Products. Regarding door configuration, a bidder proposed a 36" x 78" heavy-duty door with full kick plates and third hinge, requiring a 93" wide freezer design (93" W x 141" L x 91" H). The government response indicated that proposed freezers should coordinate with existing pad dimensions and door alignment with existing ramp, requiring bidders to assess whether concrete pad modifications fall within the scope of work.

Bonding Requirements: The solicitation requires a Payment Bond equal to 100 percent of the contract price, submitted within a specified number of days following contract award and providing protection for the full contract performance period plus one year. The government clarified that Bid Bond/Offer Guarantee marking in Box 13b of page 1 is marked as required but should be marked as not required, confirming that no Bid Bond is required for this solicitation.

Interior and Exterior Finishes, Page 114113-3.

Interior Finishes: smooth Stainless Steel, #304 or #316 Exterior Finishes: for outdoor freezers, 26 gauge Galvalume is recommended for corrosion resistance. Would 26 gauge Galvalume finish be acceptable for the exterior?

Per the SOW Part 2 Products, D. Walk in Freezers: 3. Walk in Freezer Construction. c. 2) Interior and Exterior Finishes: 22-gauge minimum thickness, type 304 or 316 smooth stainless steel.

Door: the 36" x 78" door with full kick plates is a heavy duty door with 3rd hinge and full safety. This would require a 93" wide freezer, (93" W x 141" L x 91" H) design. Would this design be acceptable?

The desired freezer sizes are approximately equal to existing. Coordinate proposed freezer to fit on existing pad with door aligned with existing ramp.

The concrete pad would also need to be extended to fit the 93" width. should modifications to the concrete pad be included in the scope of work?

Coordinate proposed freezer to fit on existing pad with door aligned with existing ramp.

A Payment Bond is required, Please confirm if a Bid Bond is required?
