GAOA Elk City Wagon Rd Improvement Questions and Answers
Amendment 1, 6 December 2023
1. Question: What is the equipment rental line item for in the Schedule of Items? Is that something the Forest Service is looking at using or is this to see what our equipment costs will be?
Answer: The Equipment Rental time is for unforeseen circumstances during the contract.
These unforeseen circumstances may include additional roadway reconditioning, clearing slumps and slides, or additional excavation. Usually this is from a spring runoff, or a change in site conditions.
2. Question: Does the USDA provide all the road signs?
Answer: No, the contract requires the contractor to provide signs.
3. Question: Can metal instead of wood signposts be used? (2.0 lbs./ft U channel)
Answer: No, please use specified road signs. We need to maintain the historic feel of the road.
4. Question: Please provide more detail when the specs say “MAINTAIN EXISTING
SIGN SYSTEM” drawing sheet 13 of 28.
Answer: This means that a sign currently exists. It is in good condition, but if it is damaged during the contract, it will need to be repaired. Replacement of the sign would constitute a design change and would not be covered by “Maintain Existing Sign System.”
5. Question: How can one determine the number of new signposts, since may are re-used?
Answer: We will be replacing posts that are damaged, have decay, or are otherwise unserviceable.
6. Question: Are the trail signs “TD-X” made from cedar or HDPE plastic?
Answer: Cedar
