About this file
This document is an addendum to the Statement of Work for a jackleg fence construction project at the Fales Flat Campground in the Bitterroot National Forest. The key details are:
The project will only involve the construction of a new jackleg fence and will not include the tear-down and removal of the old fence. The new fence will use 5-inch diameter lodgepole posts with 3-inch diameter rails in a standard three-rail design. The posts will be 5 feet 6 inches long, with the standing jacks notched to a 30-40 degree cut for a 60-80 degree stance. The rails will be 17 feet long with a jack positioned midway at 8 feet off-center, with a 4-6 inch overlap at each jack. There will be one 3-inch cross brace at the ends of every fence section and one 3-inch diagonal brace attached to the jacks at each end and corner of the fence. Fasteners will be 8-inch screws or lag bolts with washers.
The related federal contract opportunity is solicitation number 1240LU24Q0020 for the "GAOA Jackleg Fence Fales Flat Campground Bitterroot National Forest" project, issued by the Department of Agriculture Forest Service.
