2. Q: Is Owens Corning the only shingle we can use, or can we use the GAF Timberline

HDZ?

Product Salient Characteristics

c. Polymer Modified Asphalt.

d. Class A Type I - ASTM D3018 (Type 1).

e. Standard Specifications - ASTM D3462.

f. Fire Resistance Class A – ASTM E108/UL790.

g. Impact Resistance Class 4 – UL 2218.

h. Wind Resistance – minimum target speed of 130 mph as measured by ASTM.

i. 40-year lifetime warranty.

3. Q: Once this job is awarded is it set to be done this year or next year?

A: RFQ - Page 7 C.5: The period of performance for this contract is 48 days from Notice to Proceed. Estimated start date is 10/01/2023.

4. Q: The above referenced Contract Opportunity is currently posted. The attachment plans are from May of 2002. The Drawing Index has three Mechanical sheets:

However, only M-1 and M-3 are included in the current attachment.

Is there a complete set of plans from 2002 available?

A: The included plans are from a design set of 49 sheets, of which are only 15 included.

They are not asbuilts and actual conditions do slightly vary. They are supplied to give an overall general expectation of the roof. It is highly encouraged to make a site visit and personally assess the actual conditions.

5. Q: On the existing custom drip edge and gutters. Are these to stay in place and be reused as they appear in good condition?

A: Yes – however, if damage occurs, C.1 SCOPE OF CONTRACT

Install new pipe boots, replace damaged flashing and other appurtenances.

6. Q: Is the roofing contractor expected to have the solar water heater removed and reinstalled?

A: Yes – the feet should be flashed and/or booted as necessary to be incorporated into the new roofing system.

7. Q: SECTION 073113 - ASPHALT SHINGLES, 3.14 - "Install synthetic underlayment over areas protected by self-adhering, polymer-modified bitumen sheet unless otherwise specified in this Section or indicated on Drawings." - This is uncommon. Normally ice & water barrier is shingled over directly without adding a layer of synthetic. Should I include this expectation in my proposal?

A: Attachment J-6 PROJECT MANUAL, page 13, 3.1.B.4 will be removed via amendment 0002.

8. Q: SECTION 073113 - ASPHALT SHINGLES, 3.3B(1) - "Extend asphalt shingles 3/4 inch (19 mm) over fasciae at eaves and rakes." - This is the largest overhang I've ever seen recommended, and is undesirable in my opinion for both form and function. Is this 3/4" overhang meant to be beyond that of the overhang in standard D style metal, or is this item moot with that overhang taken into account?

A: Uniform overhang of ½ to ¾ will be acceptable on drip edges.

Follow manufacturer's recommendation on gable ends. Will be addressed in amendment 0002.

9. Q: Are the existing gutters to remain?

Yes – replace if damaged. Same as #5.

10. Q: Can you please give me the street address for the Air Ops Building?

A: 5765 W Broadway Building G Missoula, Montana 59808

11. Q: Hello, I was wondering if it was possible to push the period of performance and start the project in the spring?

A: Currently there is no intention of changing the period of performance (POP). The current POP allows the roof replacement before winter weather and at a time with less runway activity.
