About this file

This document contains questions and answers related to a federal solicitation for the Slip & Slide Dam Decommissioning & Restoration project with the USDA Forest Service. The solicitation involves decommissioning three dams and restoring the Slip N Slide drainage area to a native wetland habitat. The project will be conducted in two phases over two years, with both phases potentially being awarded in the first year depending on available funding. Phase one includes all earthwork and rockwork such as salvage, delivery and placement, as well as primary herbicide treatment. Phase two covers the remaining restoration work items and follow-up herbicide spot treatment. The document provides additional details on tree and plant quantities to be installed, size parameters for various plant materials, warranty requirements, and clarification on excavation quantities versus what is shown in amended contract documents.

Q. Bid item 62601 Nursery Stock Trees & Planting - Could the government provide a list of total plant quantities (aspen, cottonwood, willows) to be placed on the project?

A. Refer to Sheet 11 Detail 14 regarding the number of trees to be planted per area. Estimated totals:

Quaking Aspens: 1853 Cottonwoods: 1494 Willows: 718 Total: 4065 trees

Q. Please note that the published plan set and schedule of items, including dam excavation quantities, is different than the quantities shown on 9/7 /22 Amendment. Could you clarify.

A. Please see attached updated contract documents.

Q. What size parameters are you looking for on the willows, cottonwoods and aspens. Is there a certain height or caliper you are looking for? Is there a certain amount of the root ball or container size you are looking for on the salvaged woody plants?

A. Tree farm seedling stock with minimum of 1-inch diameters ranging from 4 to 5 feet tall.

Q. What is the warranty on the salvaged plant material, if any? There will be a certain amount of die off and even though the plants are fenced in, the animals will probably still be able to get in there somehow. You just don't know the amount of die off you will get. Is the contractor responsible for replacing any dead material? Can there be an allowance added to the bid schedule for any dead material?

A. Forest Service expects a minimum 70% survival rate. The contractor is responsible for replacing dead material. No allowance may be added to the bid for dead plant material.
