‐ When installing galv steel angle pieces into the weir wall. Contractor shall reuse the existing holes to the maximum extent possible.

‐ Contractor shall protect the weir plate with V-notched logs (available onsite) during construction.

East St. Louis

‐ Contractor Shall ensure stone bollards at the vehicle entrance are restored to their original condition after the repair.

‐ Contractor may reuse the existing recorder hut, concrete foundation, and piezometric openings. Contractor may choose to relocate the recorder hut (onsite) during construction and replace to its original condition. Contractor shall then replace the entire sheet metal roof (match existing), replace the flooring, and re-anchor the hut to its foundation. Lastly, contractor shall repaint the recorder hut (match existing).

‐ Contractor may choose to reuse the existing metal angle pieces securing the corners of the sidewalls.

‐ Contractor shall access the west sidewall with heavy equipment upstream of the weir.

Contractor shall minimize disturbance to the maximum extent feasible. The stream channel shall be restored to its original width after construction is complete.

‐ Contractor shall salvage and reuse the timber walking plank crossing the weir. The walking plank shall be restored to its original condition.

‐ Government shall perform tree clearing on the west side prior to construction providing at least 20 feet of clearance and a 20-foot by 20-foot material storage area. Stumps will be left in place by the Government.

Lower Fool

‐ Contractor shall cut to fit headgate for a new 15-inch diameter sliding gate with riser stem. Top of pipe shall remain at the same location, but the lower invert shall be lowered with the larger pipe size.

‐ Sidewall repair shall include installation of timber sidewalls below the weir wall (currently stone).

‐ Contractor shall remove the wooden erosion plate to replace with the steel erosion plate ‐ The still pond bottom currently is constructed from cedar tongue and groove boards.

Contractor shall remove and demolish the ‘flooring’ of the stilling pond and replace with 8-inches compacted bentonite clay.

Deadhorse Main

‐ Optional Bid add: Demolish and replace recorder hut ‐ Base Bid: Paint recorder hut ‐ Contractor shall cover the protruding sections of the weir wall with 4-inches of fill material (available onsite) to prevent damage from driving equipment over it.

‐ Contractor shall replace metal angle pieces at the corner of the sidewalls with 3”x3”x1/2” galv steel (or approved equivalent) ‐ Contractor shall salvage and reuse the timber walking plank crossing the weir. The walking plank shall be restored to its original condition.

Deadhorse South

‐ Contractor shall cut to fit headgate for a new 12-inch diameter sliding gate with riser stem. Top of pipe shall remain at the same location, but the lower invert shall be lowered with the larger pipe size. Headgate shall be installed on the upstream side of the weirwall

‐ Contractor shall salvage and return the existing butterfly valve headgate to the Government.

Deadhorse North

‐ Contractor shall cut to fit headgate for a new 12-inch diameter sliding gate with riser stem. Top of pipe shall remain at the same location, but the lower invert shall be lowered with the larger pipe size. Headgate shall be installed on the upstream side of the weirwall

‐ Due to tighter constraints, contractor shall reduce the depth of the bottom two deadman rows by 2-feet. The bottom deadman row shall only be 3-feet in depth.

‐ Contractor shall install two exterior-rated, removable, steel columns above the water line as bracing. Contractor may need to adjust the slope of the sidewalls to provide a flush attachment between the timber and the 4 ½-inch plate. Ensure corrosion resistivity exceeds ASTM-B117-85. Anchor into the sidewalls with galv steel fasteners.

‐ Contractor shall salvage and return the existing butterfly valve headgate to the Government.

Drawing revisions (Changes in Red)
